Problem is mate our centre back options are currently two of Jagielka, Holgate, Zouma.

In Silva's system, our centre midfield options are currently two out of Schneiderlin, Davies, Gueye.

Our out and out striker options are one out of Tosun, DCL, Niasse (for me the worst bunch of strikers in a squad in the entire division).

Basically the whole spine of the team is a complete and utter shambles, and the manager can do nothing whatsoever about it at present as the new signings were made far too late which was not good fault at all.

Our full back options aren't the worst, and our wide midfield options are superb, but down the middle and even in goal seeing Pickford far, far too comfortable out there knowing he doesn't need to excel as he has no backup pushing him up constantly improve to stay in the side.

It's an awful situation at the minute and the players that are getting selected are performing horribly.

No offence but this is exactly where we are going wrong.

We get exposed because our fullbacks get forward so often, so for half a decade now we have tried to get the CBs to cover the wide areas as well, which means we have picked two DMs to try to cover the CBs, which means our central midfield is too deep and when they lose the ball its in dangerous areas, which means the attacking midfielders play 10/15 yards further back to try and cover them, which means the striker is left to do everything by himself.

Just play three at the back. It solves most of the problems with this side.

Genuinely thought he was awful all game, runs around like a headless chicken. Never seems to be in the correct position.

Defensively he is OK. But that isn't good enough.

..actually thought he put in a few really good crosses, including for the goal. I’m not saying he’s the next best thing, I just thought it was a decent back-up right back performance.

Strikers that can’t score and a defence as leaky as a sieve, hopefully the new guys will fit in soon but we’ve already set ourselves back a fair bit.

Richarlison for Cenk and Bernard in on the left next week. Mina for holgate and Gomes for snides eventually.

If we play like that with that team then I’ll start to question silva but not yet.

Niasse is not good enough, dcl not a winger but did ok today. Holgate and Kenny were out of their depth.

Things didn’t run today. On a different day, they get a red, Cenk scores his header and pick doesn’t give the ball away like that.

I’m gutted but it’s not the end of the world. Only 6 games in.

Good post mate.

How the Midfield is made up is key.
Siggy, Snides, Gomes?
Gana offers so little in possession.

Back line has to be Digne left back and 2 of Zouma Keane or Mina and Coleman at right back.

Niasse, as much as he tries is a cabbage.

..................Pickford
Digne, Zouma, Mina, Coleman
...................Snides
..............Siggy, Gomes
Bernard, Richarlison, Walcott

?? No?

Fair enough. I thought he was poor, it would be interesting to see his stats and see which of us was closer in our assesment haha

We can't play three at the back because at least one (Jagielka, Holgate, Keane) will be an absolute liability and cost us a goal a game. We can't afford to be carrying a centre back just to play a system.

Well that game puts to bed the myth of Holgate. Looked like he'd won a competition to be there.

I might as well put my two pennorth in here....Holgate and Kenny ,while having some talent, were up against two of the best most experienced attacking players in any Prem eleven.
Our two youngsters have not yet learned how to stand up to bullying, and so were ripped apart. So what with Zouma caught out of position and looking pretty slow(thinking) today(obvious why he won't make it at Chelsea....Stoke was his level) and Digne, brilliant going forward, but leaving a gap which no one even thought of covering behind him,we actual didn't have a effective back four.

Pity is, we looked quite good going forward, but it was a day when chances didn't go in.Walcott was fine until he got hurt, and nearly scored a beautiful volley/Tosun on another day could have had a hattrick, maybe he needs a break, although I think he has a future at Everton. Last season Oumar would have buried that volley that hit the bar. In general West Ham bullied us, and that led to bossing us the more the game went.We have some very good players, and while everyone can have an off day,and a whole team can have an off day, good players should never be a yard of pace short of the opposition, never have less than 100% awareness of what is going on around them, and should never look frightened to tackle. The good players? That is players who look like proper footballers? Walcott,Tosu,Siggy,Digne, and Bernardo, although obviously not match fit, showed that he could cause any defence problems, knew how to pick a pass, and read the game well. The rest of them? They are making Silvas job even harder than it should be, and unfortunately it is Silva who will ultimately take the flack...so its up to him to sort it.

Need to be defensively better next week or arsenal will pick holes in this side. Frustrating we’ve had a relativity nice start Wolves, Southampton, Huddersfield, Bournemouth and West Ham should have been 10-12 points maximum there.
