Second string for me with the addition of Digne (so only one of either Keane or Mina play) and they should be good enough to get through. I don't expect Moyes to play his first team given the upcoming league fixtures and rumbles about his job - he's second favourite after Scott Parker.

I want the first team to be kept in cotton wool for the weekend to give us the best chance of another three points (albeit Brighton won't be a pushover). Let's go into the derby with 12 points and feeling invincible.

Carlo has said the target is Europe and the league offers up to seven places whereas the cup is one place only. We could be unlucky with the draw and all the previous rounds count for nothing - so keep our power dry for the weekend.

Moyes 2nd string actually has some threat - Yarmolenko, Lanzini, Anderson are all dangerous on their day so for me we need to put out a good defence.

Think we could go with a weakened midfield/forward line - likes of Bernard, Delph, Gordon for me could play.

Take your point abut their second string and they have Carrol too.

Goalkeepers rarely get injured so Pickford could start with Niels and Jonjo at FB. It's the centre halves that I worry about most. If Keane or Mina were to get injured then we'd have to play Digne at the weekend (and give Niels his league debut). In Carlo we trust.

I fancy us to go near full strength - I would fancy:

Pickford

Kenny Keane Mina Digne

Delph Doucoure
Bernard

Iwobi DCL Richarlison

Shows why we need a RW & back up CF before the deadline - we dont trust Kean and we shouldn't trust kin Iwobi.

If we reach the final of the Advertisers Dream Eliminator I will obviously remain steadfast and refuse to watch it.

As a concept I couldn't care less about it and have actually said that we should get rid of it altogether for some time now... if we do have to play the Copa Del TuesdaysinOctober, have it as a blooding ground for the rezzies and the youth players until we get somewhere near the final (quarters?). Especially given the fixture pile up we have now.

Then again, winning is a habit yada yada. I reckon Carlo will treat it as a non-priority until it looks like we're in with a shout (quarters?). Then I'll start claiming it is a tournament of rich football heritage and delete all of these anti League Cup forum posts.

Edit: Don't know what I'm on about tbh, can't complain about 24/7 footy in 2020
good for you. Stick by your guns.
I don't mind the competition. But I'm just an old romantic who remembers the competition when Swindon were beating Arsenal in the final.
And then later on when we should have beaten Aston Villa .
But this cup now is nowhere near the cup that was brought into place in the early 1960s. We all know that. I know that. But the Everton in me wants us to win it just once ( this year will do). Then scrap it. I won't miss it once we manage to win the bloody thing. Just once.
Think that we will all be up for this competition if we did reach the final.
We might not like this cup. Be we are not stupid. Of course we will want to win it.
Up The Toffees........
