Compare him to Eddie Howe, both took over average teams, look were Newcastle are, not all great players make good managers .
Swap them appointments around and I bet Lampard would be doing well and Howe would be nearing the sack here. Average teams but different beasts to manage, Everton hardest job in football.

The problems here as I see it are....Do we let Lampard bring in a desperately needed centre forward and stick with him in the hope that having somebody up front who the ball will stick to will give us more options to get up the pitch quickly? Do we think, given the way a lot of them stroll around the field, that these players really care whether Lampard loses his job or not? If we decide to sack Lampard, we than have to pay both him and his massive set of backroom staff,, which may reduce even more, our meagre transfer budget? If we decide to give Lampard the bullet, who can we realistically tempt to take the job and more importantly, how do we manage to give him the players he will need to make any significant improvement?

I've no idea whatsoever the answer to all this, but, up untill the last few games, I was convinced that we would be ok, for now, under Lampard and would not be in real relegation trouble. Now however, after watching the last few games and witnessing the lack of urgency, I think he may well take us down.

We’re crying out for a number 19. We just go from side to side with a stagnant midfield. In the last 20 minutes of that game, Maupay, then Cannon, Gordon and Gray were just stood in a straight line up against their back line. No one dropping into a pocket of space, no one looking to get on the ball and play a pass through a gap. It’s so predictable and easy to defend against. That’s what leads to their goal- Tarkowski and Godfrey pass it to each other due to a total lack of movement in front of them, so Tarkowski just has to punt it wide and hope for the best. It’s abysmal to watch.

I only see this getting worse the rot is setting in, we’ve seen it with Benitez,Koeman,Silva,Martinez it’s looking the same way now we are broken and Frank has no idea how to fix it. My choice would be Dyche not perfect but a hard speaking manager who I don’t think would take crap from the players. He would come relatively cheap and I believe would make us solid.
