we can, which is why i said finishing top of the group doesn't guarantee an easier tie. UEFA have just ruined this competition, they really have.

a team who finishes 4th in their league and then 3rd in a 4 team league can then go on to be champions of europe.

Winning the Europa doesn't make you champions of Europe like.

No more OTT than anyone suggesting that simply because he's actually managed to play 90 minutes for once, he's somehow worth starting ahead of Lukaku. He's not scored, and that's a striker's most important job.

Kone may well BECOME competition for Lukaku over the next six or eight weeks, as he starts putting together a string of appearances and maybe scores a few goals, but he isn't competition YET. If you want to disagree, that's fine. But who do you think will start the next game?
Who actually has said that he's worth starting ahead of Lukaku after one game (in a serious manner)? If anything, he's not gonna be fit to start the next game after today, a 70th+ minute sub at best, probably better off waiting for the next game in fact.

And yeah, he hasn't scored... in a game in which he played with several 17-19 year olds against Krasnodar's first team. I am really not shocked if we had Eto'o/Lukaku upfront and they also didn't score - it's just absolutely normal. Couple this fact with how long he was out for and you'd get a reason why he hasn't scored tonight, and I'd say it's perfectly normal he didn't bang in 5 goals today (as we expected him right?) He did have our best chances tonight and actually created one two for himself. He even showed some excellent teamwork and some good movement; I'd even go as far as saying that he's better than Lukaku at receiving the ball to feet and playing the ball around midfield better.

Anyway, this whole situation should signalise to Lukaku that he HAS to perform, because options is what we have - him, Eto'o, Kone. 3 strikers, we play only 1 upfront...
