Hard to take much away from a match that resembled a friendly. Kone looked pretty good though and did the holdup thing pretty well. You'd like to think that someone one Naismith or Barkley can benefit from that. Garbutt looked good. The 2nd D=1st unit D with competent play and a unhealthy mix of inexpicable lapses.

Joel needs to make himself big on those one v. one shots.

Well after watching that game i felt pretty happy.Learnt alot.Robles is dross so we need a keeper.pienaar looked more like himself. Garbutt and Kone both played brilliant and are proper competition for Baines and Rom.Kids looked like kids but all showed potential and great experience for them and a good fitness builder for oviedo.overall happy and once we get naisy and mac back we will be back to kicking ass.

Ahh well. Didn't really matter, just some first team experience for the young lads and game time for the lads with injury problems.

It did annoy me that we played Oviedo and Pienaar as DMs. Gave Ledson too much to do, personally I'd have put Browning at CB, Oviedo at RB and Barry alongside Ledson in DM.

Impressed with Garbutt again, Kone did alright too.

I must admit I nearly fell asleep during that game, Ledson looked ok did nothing majorly impressive, neat and tidy and can use both his left and right peg, Dowell looked like the 2nd coming of Billy, Browning didn't look comfortable but played out of position. Felt sorry for McAleny really, seemed to try too hard and nothing went right for him. Kone looked sharp at times and will definitely be used over the Christmas period.

Main positive for me was Garbutt, delivery again was top class. But I couldn't help thinking during the game that we are likely to lose him for nothing during the Summer due to his contract situation and the fact Baines/Oviedo are ahead of him at left back.

Eh? Kone was pretty decent?
I'm referring to his long term ability to play at the top level not the way he played tonight. I just feel Martinez needs to know he can still show that he believes in his game - there's a worry that he won't want to be sidelined again for 12 months and therefore we might not see the best of him. Sorry if you think I was being critical of his performance which I wasn't.

I think it's time we give that young promising keeper we got from Cambridge a shot.

In all seriousness, the best arguement you can have for Howard is that 'he's not a bad keeper'
For me that's neither here nor there. Everton Football Club should have a great keeper, best in the world type keeper. You need one to win things I think. It's the first line of defence, I believe your only as good as your keeper. We have a United reject. United have won many things through the years. It only took a keeper to have one bad game to be dropped for United. That was the standard. And it should be ours.

Got soggy feet on the way to the ground walking through the feckin puddles, toothache played up and I couldn't really enjoy the game.

Kone, Garbutt and Ledson stood out for me.

Time for bed now that I've countered the worst of my trench foot and rid myself of the taste of stale hotdog bun (do they just clear out all of the out of date stock during European games the meffs because they're normally sound?).
