I'd expect Barry, Jagielka and Stones all to play based on that - how fit they are who knows!
Seems to me that we should set up to play on the counter attack from the very start. United will come out the blocks fairly quickly I would imagine, sensing a team short of confidence and will be looking for an early goal. Not usual for Van Gaal but he's not going to want us to build any confidence early in the game.
That being the case I'd be tempted to start Deulofeu and push Barkley up behind Lukaku. We know he'll start Cleverley on the left, so Lennon on the bench. If Del doesn't perform we can swap Lennon for him. Lennon as sub could also provide much needed cover on the right later in the game.
Don't see much point in going defensive and starting Lennon right midfield to give Pennington cover - we can't park the bus for 120 minutes, we need to score and score early.

LvG's had the measure of us when we've faced him this season, while martinez has been devoid of ideas. I don't see much difference happening between the league games and tomorrow, tbh.
To be fair the United game at Goodison should never had been played (United were happy to postpone the game, but the tv companies insisted it be played) so I'm not sure that's particularly relevant.
The OT game was pretty much a non event between two teams with few ideas.
Still appreciate tomorrow us going to be difficult.
Thing is Esk - I think untied'll be happy to let us come at them early on, knowing that:-
A) We've barely troubled them in the two league games
B) They know we'll be even wider open to a counter. I'm aware untied can be as painfullly slow as ourselves, which leads me to
C) We're not fit enough for a full 90, plus we're useless from a restart as well as close to the end of either half, and
D) We don't close games out - ever! Tomorrow would be no different.
They can bide their time. I think they'll happily do so.
Could be a very dull game then lol

I'd take a dull game tbh as long as a bit of fortune fell our way and we somehow managed to scrape through
