Not you, Fernanda, but I remember people a while back asking why he wasn't considered for England. Had one shocking game in pre-season, but was a pretty constant and safe defender previously (even if his going forward did leave much to be desired).

I admit I was one who thought he would get a shot for a position in the english national team 2-3 years ago. Unfortunately for him he's stagnated and are still making some juvenile mistakes when loosing his cool, the same mistakes I had hoped he would have grown out of. Also he isn't good going forward and the game have developed more into having wingbacks that help push the offence as well.. he can't do that good enough. He's a good backup for us now, but I don't rate him as a primary starter anymore. I do however hope that with the extra competition for the RB he will improve that and if he does... he'll rise in my eyes again.
