How about trying to retrain Hibbert for the central defence? He's a great tackler and a good man-marker and can head the ball, just poor going forward. He seems to have all the qualities of a CB yet never plays there.

Wouldn't feel confident with Hibbert in the middle. I can still see the defending he did when Rooney scored ManU's third against us last season.

Well obviously not straight away, but train him up in the position. How old is he now? 24ish? A good CB lasts till their 35, Hibbert could go on for another ten years and could grow into the position.

Yeh and he has played in pre-season too which makes me think he will be first choice and maybe baines might play left wing....

Baines is out and to Rob, Valente has been poor in pre-season to be honest, defending wise, does alright attacking, as soon as Leighton is fit he will be left back.

Valente has excellent pedigree but the prem is a faster game than he is use to plus he beginning to put on some age. Excellent in attack support didn't do half bad playing midfield last year. But can be left wanting tracking back. Lescott just looked to smooth doing it last year. Baines will be a super addition mark my words. Everyone will love him. Puts Lescott were he should be with Yobo. Get a Vogel type in to spell Cars occasionally and we are good to go.
