Everton Youth Teams Thread

Wondering if Charsley's performance might be his way into the team at some point? Many fullbacks started higher up the pitch and moved back. There are a lot of midfielders ahead of him, but LB is pretty wide open.

I didn't get to the see the game so I'm just going off what people said was a good performance...thoughts?

I can't see him becoming a permanent left back mate as I think his best work is when he's higher up the pitch as the kid has a great knack of being in the right place at the right time. Like @Eggs mentions though, he will certainly make a living out of the game whether that be at Everton or somewhere else.

Feeney up there as MOTM for me.
Indeed, an impressive, understated performance. The only natural defender in the team, his positioning was excellent through out and you often caught glimpses of him bawling at and directing other players. It’s been a great year for him in the way he’s stepped up from u18 level and the degree of maturity he’s shown and plenty of time for him to keep developing further.

Hr did well last night but would have thought both Connollly and Robinson are ahead of him. Both doing ok on loan and that lot we played last night werent championship level.

Never say never though. Always gives 100% and nearly got one of his trademark goals last night.

It’s always seems odd to me that Broadhead hasn’t had more starting opportunities at U23s level the past two seasons and to be honest I assumed he wasn’t showing it in training or Unsy would have picked him more . To me he always looked better than Duffus, Dyson and Sambou from last season and he’s scored some spectacular goals.
Always looks like he has that turn of pace to get himself a bit of space. He will be a professional here or else where.
Actually the Martin Waldron podcast on the everton website the other day said 85% of the scholars go on to a professional career here or elsewhere- which is fantastic.

That is quite remarkable, unbelievable really when you read all the stories of how many academy players are discarded each year overall. Show's that even if you don't make it to our first team, chances are you will make it somewhere if you come through our academy.

First time I’ve seen Gordon, apart from seeing clips of his goals. Was impressed how aggressive he was in that first challenge and how it took 2 Limassol players to get the ball off him. Even though he’s only 16 and very slight.

I really hope he and the rest of the young lads, have real hunger and desire. It’s the one thing that’s really frustrates me with Barkley. And how he seems to lack real hunger to win at all costs.

Look at Dele ali, constantly running of the back of Kane and desperate to score goals, also hates loosing the ball abd will fight for everything as well as being a right snide. All successful teams need that and we have lacked it for years.

Whats the score with Feeney, does he have much in the way of pace and ability to pass a ball or more of a Dave Watson type (which he appeared to be from my stream)...

Could he potentially be a 4th choice option next season behind Keane, Holgate and a new first choice signing?

When he came on, I immediately thought of this thread and how he was defined as a bit 'slight' to really impact in a physical mens game.

Visually that was correct of course and I'm sure he wouldn't last long in a premier league game...however, like you say the attitude and fight he showed was commendable...similar could be directed at Liam Walsh, Tom Davies, DCL and Baningime I think...

Its almost like Unsworth is developing Manchurian candidates.

Will be interesting to see if that is just down to them being young, and desperate to make the most of their chances, or a long term trait of theirs... I don't watch enough of them to say myself.

Is Feeney highly thought of throughout the club do we know? Heard he played well last night.

Also is it a given do we think that Baningime is classed as part of the first team squad going forward now?

If so it will be interesting to see how things develop when Joe Williams gets back here.
