Everton Youth Teams Thread

Is Feeney highly thought of throughout the club do we know? Heard he played well last night.

Also is it a given do we think that Baningime is classed as part of the first team squad going forward now?

If so it will be interesting to see how things develop when Joe Williams gets back here.

...the fact that Feeney skippers the U23s at such a tender age says a lot, as does the fact that he’s already made a couple of EL appearances.

@Zatara , re Anthony Gordon , here’s some posts from October when our u18 beat City u18 5-3 .it may answer some of you4 questions , make your own mind up .

So Gordon , two goals , two assists and played a part in the other goal. We’ve seen Davis and Walsh dominate games at this level, but not score much though Walsh’s memorable halfwayliner comes to mind. Dowell coming back from injury scored some great goals but rarely affected the game apart from his goals. This kid is so sharp, he’s scoring and assisting others , that 3rd goal was a superb team effort.
City scored a couple of good passing goals too, they may have been weakened by that U19 Champions League competition but still looked a good side. As ever , we need to reel in the expectations , he’s 16 and it was an u18match , but 10 goals so far is impressive tally from an attacking midfielder . Every so often we get the “ can’t be arsed watching the Youth or reading anything about them but whose the next big thing ?” type post. I guess we have a potential answer .

Indeed, an impressive, understated performance. The only natural defender in the team, his positioning was excellent through out and you often caught glimpses of him bawling at and directing other players. It’s been a great year for him in the way he’s stepped up from u18 level and the degree of maturity he’s shown and plenty of time for him to keep developing further.

It's exciting to see him develop. I'm assuming the plan would be for him to go on loan next year?

Very interesting article here. I know Nolan is a Scouser (albeit a Red)...something I've thought about but not in-depth. Would it be beneficial to have a relationship with 1 or 2 clubs to loan your top prospects to in order to reduce risk? Rather than have your lads scattered all over with the possibility of the loan not working out (i.e. Liam Walsh at Brum), if a team like Knotts sees it as a win-win and is willing to take more than 1 at time, or 1 a year or something like that, would this be beneficial for us?

Kevin Nolan hopes Sam Allardyce’s appointment at Everton could open the door for Notts County to sign some of the Premier League side’s top young talent.

Former Magpies boss Allardyce was confirmed as Ronald Koeman’s successor last week.

Notts manager Nolan played for Allardyce at Bolton, Newcastle United and West Ham United, with the pair sharing a close relationship.

And he hopes it could lead to some doors being opened should Notts ever want to recruit some of their highly-rated youngsters.

“Sam will help me as much as he possibly can, he has always said that,” revealed Nolan.

“We’ve exchanged a few texts and I’ve wished him good luck in the job.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity and it’s his biggest job after England and I am sure those sceptical Everton fans will change their tune pretty quickly on him.

“He will get that club running in the right way. A lot of my friends are Evertonians who have lost that sort of love, but I am sure he will bring them all back.

“Watch this space because there’s only way they will be going.

“They have sent a lot of players out on loan at Championship clubs, but if there are some there who can make a difference for us and they are not going to higher clubs, then I am sure there will be a deal to be done.”

Collins, Gordon, Denny and Duke-McKenna back for the u18s tonight, apparently Hornby not involved because of his involvement last night . Manasse Mampala looks capable of leading the line and there must be an expectation that Hornby will be playing U23s now so good chance for Mampala to step up. I wonder if theyll play Lewis Gibson as he’s eligible.
