Everton Youth Teams Thread

Keep us posted if anyone is watching and has the chance to post updates;)
0-0 HT

Loads of possession and good approach play but very little in the way of creating chances.

Gordon is probably the standout in terms of attack - very good ball control and awareness of other players, does a bit of strolling around when he hasn't got the ball.

Mampala hasn't really done that much. Duke-McKenna has had some nice touches and some very average ones. Haven't seen Joe Anderson on the left before but he looks good and the defence in general seem quite confident.

Cheers mate ;)

Six of the starting 11 are 1st Year Scholars , including 4 of the back 5. Perhaps as expected Anthony Gordon has easily looked our best player , good distribution from him but no shots on target. Mampala looks a bit isolated at times , usually you’d expect Gordon to be closer to him but the size of Goodison hasn’t allowed this.
Michael Collins has looked very sound and confidence at the back , prepared to bring the ball forward from the back , with a reasonable degree of skill from such a big lad.

..it’s so different playing in a stadium if it isn’t the norm. The first competition game is often the most awkward, they need to get through it.

Yeah the openness is suiting some players like Collins as he’s got time on the ball , stroking it about without opposing forwards quickly shutting down narrow spaces which he gets at USM FF. Gordon too is using space well and he had an electric burst of pace down the right flank early on.

..and it’s the perception of distance with huge stands in the background.

Very interesting article here. I know Nolan is a Scouser (albeit a Red)...something I've thought about but not in-depth. Would it be beneficial to have a relationship with 1 or 2 clubs to loan your top prospects to in order to reduce risk? Rather than have your lads scattered all over with the possibility of the loan not working out (i.e. Liam Walsh at Brum), if a team like Knotts sees it as a win-win and is willing to take more than 1 at time, or 1 a year or something like that, would this be beneficial for us?

Kevin Nolan hopes Sam Allardyce’s appointment at Everton could open the door for Notts County to sign some of the Premier League side’s top young talent.

Former Magpies boss Allardyce was confirmed as Ronald Koeman’s successor last week.

Notts manager Nolan played for Allardyce at Bolton, Newcastle United and West Ham United, with the pair sharing a close relationship.

And he hopes it could lead to some doors being opened should Notts ever want to recruit some of their highly-rated youngsters.

“Sam will help me as much as he possibly can, he has always said that,” revealed Nolan.

“We’ve exchanged a few texts and I’ve wished him good luck in the job.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity and it’s his biggest job after England and I am sure those sceptical Everton fans will change their tune pretty quickly on him.

“He will get that club running in the right way. A lot of my friends are Evertonians who have lost that sort of love, but I am sure he will bring them all back.

“Watch this space because there’s only way they will be going.

“They have sent a lot of players out on loan at Championship clubs, but if there are some there who can make a difference for us and they are not going to higher clubs, then I am sure there will be a deal to be done.”
Well if nothing else he can teach our young lads how to make over the top career threatening tackles.

But seriously the concept is one I've touted for a while. Just not sure this guy us the right manager to do it with.

It’s also interesting seeing Elliott Richards play as centre back , and Joe Anderson . Both appeared in that pre s axon tournament which was streamed. You can see how much they have developed in the few months they have been full time.
Kerr and Denny look comfortable as DFM s but we’re not really creating much . Out for 2nd half now.
Phil Jevons providing good insights on the players, th8nk he’s u16 coach now, or similar role.
