Everton Youth Teams Thread

Disappointed but I hope Walsh enjoys his football for Bristol City. I'm not sure I've ever watched him play, but everything I've read on him has been positive.

Oh, and Zirkzee, he of the many zzzzzs went to Bayern , the French lad Mathis has not made any impact and “the other lad” is probably Markelo, played a few games in the U23s , mainly at right back but again not really any impact yet. Of the debutants in Cyprus the other week , Fraser Hornby and Anthony Gordon , although two of the youngest , are viewed as being the best prospects - add them to your list and nod wisely whenever you hear their name mentioned ;).

...not sure which thread to post this in but it’s an Everton youth team reunion. Bit of a blast from the past as I remember watching these guys back in the day. Really good that they retain the special camaraderie (clue) of playing for our club.
I can't place the baldy lad next to Danny Cadamarteri,he was a midfielder I'm sure and another who was set for a big future,I saw him as well play at least once in the first team, oh my bad memory:)

Hornby is not someone I had really thought that much about, but he's physically mature enough for the prem and he plays a premium position with not much actual competition...I have a feeling he could make his debut next season.

Cheers,ill sleep now!!

...good player was Milligan. I think he’s only one of two in that group who’s still playing (Southport perhaps). Peter Clarke is the other who I think is at Oldham. I remember Clarke playing for England U21s at Goodison against Christians Ronaldo’s Portugal. Jeffers played in that game.

Keith Southern on the left who played lots for Blackpool, i’ve seen him at Goodison in recent times so he must follow the Blues. I think Carl Regan is on the right, I recall him going to Barnsley after leaving us. Poppleton and McDermott a few of the others.

At 18 and still relatively inexperienced in the striker role, he’s got a lot of developing to do , but he’s shown potential . He’s similar to the DCL of 18 months ago in some ways , raw , strong, fast , so for me it would make sense to have Hornby being coached alongside DCL by Big Dunc. His height is an advantage, he’s got reasonable ball skills from his midfield days, a reasonable shot on him too. He’ll need to establish himself at U23s level and start scoring goals but I don’t see any real competition for him as our U23s No9 if he continues to develop.

Do you think he would benefit from a loan move next season?

That’s always a difficult one. 5 further months at USM FF will give Hornby a chance to develop further and let us see how good he is. Maybe then a further 5 months training until the next January window, then the difficulty of finding the right league and the right club that will play a youngster. At the moment he just needs to show he can bang the goals in at U23s level and also at U19s maybe u21 for Scotland.
