Everton Youth Teams Thread

Well, using right back as an example.

Coleman is 29 and Kenny is 20.

At the end of next season, Coleman will be 30 and Kenny 22.

If Kenny has taken Colemans place at the end of next season then the club has a decision....

Should they keep the 2nd choice right back whose on a big salary, or should they sign a young player with high potential to push Kenny?

Also likely, would Coleman ask to leave for game time or if Kenny isn't getting games would he want to leave...

In each of these scenarios the short term vision of keeping old players too long isn't the ideal choice. After 30 their values plummet as well.
We might see Coleman rotate a bit of RM/RW with Bolasie and rotate some RB with Kenny. I think there is plenty of time to be split between the three, and it might be best to ease them back as they are returning after serious injuries. I don't think Kenny will be forgotten... just rotated a bit

It's not all about resale value! And even if it was, he did only cost 60k :) I don't see Seamus as the type to ask for a move, think he'd be happy to stay and tutor/share time with Kenny. And as I've said backing up youth with youth is risky business.

Please feel free to find any quote of mine saying I want us to sell him. I’ll wait patiently.
The undeniable fact is there was an U23 game last night and he wasn’t even in the squad. He’s gone.
I dont believe I need to. That post above and every other post you have made over the last few days pertaining to Liam tells me everything I need.

All myself and 2/3 other posters have asked is that the lad be given a chance. So far he hasnt. The last loan deal didnt work out. He is only 20. Whats the rush. What the hell is wrong with anither loan deal in Jan rather than offloading.

You have argued against this, not just with me but with others too. If you wanted him to stay why would you do this?

I think the reason for the low price is that we have all manner of buyback clauses, so its basically a glorified loan, IMO.

Well then you’re just a buffoon. I like Walsh I’m just not shocked he’s possibly getting sold and not massively bothered either.

I understand Walsh can't play until January because he is registered on loan with Birmingham. In January the club could let him he be part of the first team squad and train with them every day. If he's good enough he may get on the bench at least and even a few appearances as a sub. The likelihood is we will be mid table and games aren't "must win" so would be ideal to give him a chance. At least we as fans can be satisfied the club have had a proper look at him. If it's clear he's not good enough then we could probably look at getting a better price for him if he's got a few premiership appearances. Letting him go for a limited fee without giving him a proper chance in first team environment would be reckless and possibly something we will very much regret.
