Everton Youth Teams Thread

Conor Grant starting , Calum Dyson on the bench makes my eyes roll and want to moan about letting Walsh go again .... but I won’t!. Grant must be struggling if he can’t make it at Crewe, I thought he was good League1/2 material , but now I look at him harshly and think he’s keeping Josh Bowler out of the team who has shown promise. No outfield defenders on the bench which is odd, I guess Denny could cover or we could switch to a back 3 if needed. No Beni in the squad either.

To be fair, there must be heaps of scouts around for the window so maybe they are showcasing Grant and Baxter for moves?

Hows Gibson getting on...any improvement since summer?

Markelo...any good?

..i’m very interested in Gibson too, Zat. He’s younger than most but seems a regular at U23 level. The once I watched he was left sided in a back 3 but I notice Foulds played on Monday and i’m not sure if Gibson reverted to LB. you would think/hope he’d be around the first team if he was a year older.

My impression from the games I’ve seen streamed and the formations/reports of other games is that in a four Foulds is the left back, Gibson left centre back; in a three Foulds is left CB, Gibson middle and Feeney right CB. They may mix these about a bit though .

..cheers. Interesting that, given how impressive the Feeney/Foulds partnership is. Not sure what that means for Gibson’s future, although let’s not forget Kenny came through the ranks as a CB. Young Gibson looks a bull of a man, perhaps that physicality lends itself to CB.

The interesting thing is that for England he was a left back...is he not great in an attacking sense?
