Everton Youth Teams Thread

hornby has only moved into the u23s in last couple of months and he was banging the goals in for the u18s for a while so they do seem to be moving them along more slowly recently.
Indeed, I was going to write something similar. Feeney spent a full year and a half in the u18s, it was really only this time last year he got U23s game time, similarly with Beni. Only Evans of late has played u21/23 as a first year Scholar . Having said that would like Gordon to get some game time at U23s this season .

P.S . Re Gordon’s physicality , he is slight but he doesn’t get knocked off the ball easily. His pace and acceleration get him out of trouble, that will be interesting to see if he can carry that up a level.

..Gordon’s a reasonable height, though. He must be at least 5ft 10in and can fill that frame out.

Not sure what level Hornby was at prior to getting the scholarship. Think we'd only bought him quite recently.
It's possible Gordon was the same though. maybe he hadn't shone as much at younger age groups and is only just breaking through now (at his current very high level I mean). It may explain why he wasn't in the first England U17 squad too

Ok.

Just that you started the previous response with there's no rush, which would have actually been a move away from our old policy.

It could be, as you say, that others are ahead in the pecking order. Evans, Hornby, Broadhead etc plus we've brought in the likes of Bowler.

But I'm still a little surprised they haven't given him an odd game at least. Perhaps he's not actually quite advanced as we think and his goals are giving ys a little bit of false expectation. He does appear quite slight and maybe physically he isnt quite ready for the higher age group.

He played in a EL game?
