Everton Youth Teams Thread

...you would think it’ll be televised via Chelsea TV and we’ll watch via a stream.
A good test for our u18s,they’re probably one of the best teams in Europe on their day. Hudson-Odoi is their star, but I think he’s way ahead of this level now, McEachran, Guehi, Panzo all played for England U17s WC winners, plus a couple like James and Redan who showed up well the other night. They’re unlikely to play all these though. Let’s hope we make a decent effort with streaming it, the Chelsea tv coverage the other night from Southport with its replays etc put our coverage of our previous U23s match at Goodison to shame.

Our coverage is so poor sometimes. The u23's video on Youtube the other day had only the 3 goals, with no replays. Yet the u18's Twitter clip above has got replays. Sort it out Everton ffs.

I guess there's just no rush with Gordon. If he goes straight to U23's he needs to play all the time but then say Evans might not get in and we want to assess how far off first team football he is etc. It's just spreading the minutes around.
Not sure if you fully grasped my question Nymz. In the past scholars of Gordons ability bypassed the U18s and went straight to the U21s. Kenny, Evans, Feeney etc. It was policy to fast track their development then send out on loan at 18ish. Thats not happened to Gordon who appears to be at that level.

Yeh I understand what you were getting at just our U23 squad is pretty large so maybe they thought a full game every week is better than him possibly sitting a lot of them out. He is 16 after all and the first team management will be more interested in seeing how say Evans performs (same position) since he'll be closer to being ready.

It's also a slightly bigger jump now than it would have been when it was only u21s. Maybe next season he can move into the u23s, but no rush if Evans is still around and not on loan.

Ok.

Just that you started the previous response with there's no rush, which would have actually been a move away from our old policy.

It could be, as you say, that others are ahead in the pecking order. Evans, Hornby, Broadhead etc plus we've brought in the likes of Bowler.

But I'm still a little surprised they haven't given him an odd game at least. Perhaps he's not actually quite advanced as we think and his goals are giving ys a little bit of false expectation. He does appear quite slight and maybe physically he isnt quite ready for the higher age group.

hornby has only moved into the u23s in last couple of months and he was banging the goals in for the u18s for a while so they do seem to be moving them along more slowly recently.
