Everton Youth Teams Thread

Did anyone else find that an utterly miserable first half watch?

No structure at all, the two senior pros in the side showing no urgency, the Swansea opposition couldn't be arsed, absolutely no style of football and no one seemed to care?

Was like watching the first team etc etc.

think our two ringers are playing within themselves but was a quality goal to take the lead, at least it looked like that the one and only time i saw it.

Been like that all the games i have watched except for the one Coleman made his comeback in.

What is even more worrying was Paul Taits interview in the echo a few weeks ago saying that they have gone to a more direct style in the academy system. Focusing on diagonal balls to the striker and coaching the players into winning second balls. Depressing stuff if you ask me.
I think youve taken that out of context . Tait was talking about how they develop specific traits in specific players, and for Fraser Hornby when he was playing at u18s they hit a lot of diagonal balls up to him so that he would get experience of them and develop this side of his play.

Horrible isn't it. Unless the club is fixed dramatically in the summer, we are in a lot of trouble going forward.

Title back on after tonight mate ;)

..I only watched the 2nd half but Swansea looked a decent side. Difficulty handling the left winger but the U23s did what they usually do, they hung in there and grafted.

Petulant bunch though weren't they quite happy to dish out the fouls but whining when they got some back.

I never thought it was off while we still have those 2 games in hand really, off course Leicester winning makes it a bit better with them been leaders,in terms of the 7 points to them we could get 6 bk with games in hand,Just need Arsenal to lose as well lol
I’m pleasantly surprised as to how well comparatively both the u18 and U23s are doing in their respective leagues. Neither are producing eye catching results, some weeks good other times hanging on and grinding out a result. But both have a chance if they hit a late run of form.

I thought Mateusz Hewelt had a good game tonight, he’s been quietly improving the last two seasons , rarely gets a mention , but that was a good game to get a clean sheet in. Needs a good loan next season , which can be difficult for a young GK as managers in lower leagues don’t often trust them to start regularly.
