Everton Youth Teams Thread

Hey,
can anybody tell me which u17 wales international we have in our youth team? I red there are six players inclouding Ryan Astlech, but I cant find any informations about the other five.
Thanks!
As far as I’m aware there are five not six and all have been coming through together with Wales from at least u15s. The club keeps a tight check on names of youngsters u16 as a matter of policy, and although I have nothing to do with the club or any individuals I’ve respected that, but names are now readily available with a bit of digging and some have actually played for u18s/ u 23 s and signed Scholar contracts . So.
Ryan Astley, captains Wales U17s , Centre back.
Edward Jones, no 3.
Josh Hosie , midfield I think.
Michael Ellery , No 5.
Rhys Hughes. Not sure of position.
Ashley and Hosie have signed Scholar contracts, and at least one more but I can’t remember who.
Ryan Astley is the outstanding prospect out of them , if he progresses like this and is a regular in our U23s next season I’d expect him to be promoted to Wales U19s e.g Chelsea’s Ethan Ampadu was playing U19s for Wales when 16 and at Exeter. But of course Astley will have stiff competition at U23s first from Feeney, Gibson and any others returning from loans.

I was at the game and was fairly impressed by Lavery. Very hard working and pacey with little or no service all night. He made the interception that led to the penalty and took his goal well at the near post.

Sounded like a good game and good to see one of ours doing well. A lot closer than you'd expect with irish league players up against guys at Real Madrid lol

They did well indeed, particularly Paul Smith and the number 8 from Crusaders. I must admit, I was there to see the Spanish and Lavery and I’m glad I went.

However, that is me done with that ground and the pockets of NI support who haven’t moved on at all unfortunately.

Back on thread, Lavery is built like Rooney and loves to run the channels. A lot of his runs were missed but I liked what I saw. Not sure if he’s top level though.

Why what happened?

Yeah it looked a well taken goal from Lavery. He’s always sparkled , seemed pacy and gets his shots onto goal without appearing a prolific goalscorer a Tony Cottee type player. Playing for N Ireland will help raise his profile if he can make it up to the full squad in a year or two.
Similarly, I see that Michael Collins our u18/U23s Centre back has opted for Ireland and is in their current u18 squad.

We've generally been pretty good at judging who to retain or let go over the past few years.

However there are currently two England youth players - Matty Daly (Huddersfield) and Callum Wright (Leicester via Blackburn) starting for England in age groups where we have no representation. Both released at U15 level but England internationals by U17.

We also let go a player who made his Leeds debut at left back last weekend - Tom Pearce.

Well done To Shayne Lavery on his call up.

That was quick...

He looked a real pest to play against, always running the defender down and never giving them a minute. His runs weren’t taken advantage of but to his credit he kept making them; obviously used to playing with better players who have the ability to find him.

His finish showed that there is definitely a player there but I’m not sure level ultimately.

Hopefully Collins gets plenty of game time to bring on his career in a blue shirt.

We tried to sign him in Jan or last summer didn't we?
