Point well made-it’s all about where you want to play; who you feel more natural representing.Yeah not surprised because Michael always is wary of a kid leaving. I know nothing about Lavery on a personal level or his thoughts etc, but from a personal selfish perspective I hope he sticks with us after progressing through the age groups.
From what I've heard O Neill (Martin that is lol) never actually spoke to Smyth as he wasn't contemplating switching. Mainly because yes he was a talented Gaelic footballer, but had progressed through Linfield and therefore well integrated into the NI system and difficult to then switch. But i suppose it's a sign of the times and a victory for sport that someone like Paul Smyth can progress through Linfield (who i thoroughly dislike haha) and into full time football.
