Everton Youth Teams Thread

Squad was due to be announced after the WC squad, so any day now. I would imagine it’s u21s at its core plus a few u20 and U19s. There’s a lot of decent players still involved in matches e.g. Villa , Fulham , RS who won’t be picked so may be an interesting mix of recognised/unrecognised.

I noticed the squad selected in March must have been experimental; didn't hold any regulars really. Be interesting to see if we have anyone involved.

Holgate is fit now, DCL injured, maybe Davies/Dowell/Lookman/Kenny/Connolly?

Those born from 1997 onwards so Holgate won't be there. FA said back in March that Aidy Boothroyd would be taking the U21 squad to the tournament so I expect it to be made up primarily of the 20 wc winning squad.

DCL is fast...
If DCL had scored just a few more of the chances that came his way, peoples perception of him on here would be completely different. He's not far off in my opinion.

Hopefully, next season he get's plenty of opportunity off the bench in an attacking side creating plenty of chances. I think with strikers, goal scoring is all too frequently linked to confidence, and if we can see him get a few under his belt early doors we'll see a different player.

Well you know I love him anyway but quite excited to see him in a - hopefully - more offensive and expansive side.

Interesting, to me at least, that there is a massively increasing trend of very highly rated youth prospects turning down pro-deals at Chelsea, City and even Liverpool.

After Tyrese Campbell, Sancho last season and now Bobby Duncan (off to Liverpool) it seems both Rhian Brewster (Liverpool) and Pancho (Chelsea, English left back / centre back) have refused pro-deals.

We should be all over those types of players with clear pathways to first team games.

In fact I think both Brewster and Pancho could be first team with us within the next season.

A Lookman, Walcott, Brewster front 3 would be a really good blend.

Yeah, I posted something similar in another thread , can’t remember which one, maybe the “loans” one . The context was Onyekuru going to the Bundesliga and three England youngsters not signing pro deals but considering also going to the Bundesliga . Moenchengladbach are apparently in for Brewster and were also on the verge of signing Keenan Bennetts a 19 year old at Spurs who has German connections. As you say Pancho is also in that category. It’ll be difficult for us to compete for them , I’d certainly take Brewster, Pancho for me is not anything better than Lewis Gibson, though he was preferred to Gibson for the England U17s team.

Toulon Tournament squad announced, we have three players , surprisingly no Lookman. It’s a pretty strong squad

Everton released Tom Peace from Leeds in 2014 - talk of a return for the left back from Ormskirk.

Great experience for Shayne Lavery, and a further chance for him to show his potential. He always looked speedy at u18 but hasn’t really kicked on yet, possibly due to injuries.

Everton striker Shayne Lavery and midfielder Jordan Thompson have been called up to the Northern Ireland senior men’s international squad for the summer tour to Panama and Costa Rica.
They replace Cameron McGeehan, who misses the trip with an ankle injury, and Ollie Norwood, who is involved in a play-off with his club Fulham at the weekend.

Having scored against Spain for Northern Ireland U21s, 19-year old Lavery was included in Michael O’Neill’s panel for the friendly against South Korea in March. He was an unused substitute as Northern Ireland won 2-1 at the National Football Stadium at Windsor Park.
