Apologies for this being slightly off-thread. In football season 1950/51, our local church got a football team together to play in a Liverpool under 18 league. I was 15 and played centre forward. Another team in the league was Everton Colts and we played them at Bellfield. (First time I had ever had a bath after a football match!) We lost 13- 0 and after the game the Everton coach came into our dressing room and congratulated us. He said it was the first time that season that they had scored less than 20 goals!

Sorry, no. Never saw their names on a team sheet. All I remember is that as I was only 15 and they were probably 17/18, it was like playing against men!

Fraser Hornby just scored a towering header against Togo there..

Hornby has done well, it’s about two years ago that he was appearing in mid field for Scotland U17s in a tournament and looking useful but not spectacular. He looks like he’s filled out a wee bit more, and Scotland are following our lead and lumping high balls up to him to win, that was a well taken goal , though without any challenge to him.
You can see he’s still learning the striker role. When he got the ball he was often turning away from goal and laying off the ball in comparison to DCL who is more prepared to use his strength and pace to go one on one against a defender.

I only had half an eye on the game but he seemed to fade quite badly and was taken off late on.
He looked absolutely goosed.

Just made a decent recovery. Ball got played in behind him but was able to catch backup due to his speed

Antonee with a solid first 45. A few runs down the wing, an interception or two, and a nice recovery on a throw ball in behind.

Really hope he gets a look this upcoming season.

Very nice cross, very nice goal! I had forgotten what it felt like to get enjoy watching this team!
