Everton Youth Teams Thread

Yeh it's his defending at the top level you'd worry about, think he had some ropey games for Bolton but at 20 he's got plenty of time to improve.

A lot depends on the team that a young player is being brought into. If you look at the Liverpool right back this season I wonder how he would have done in a struggling Everton team ?
Equally, I wonder how he will do with England without the protective blanket of a confident Liverpool team around him. Some on here have been very harsh on our young players this season but in a confident team playing well they may look far superior players.

Any one know Robinson's contract situation? It was my impression from the knowledgeable people in this thread that he is not some one likely to make the senior team. Is that still true (if it ever was)?

...it’s a dim reflection on Steve Walsh and Ronald Koeman that the lad was sent on loan when there was no conventional LB cover for Baines, who we all know has suffered with injury as he’s got older. Had that decision not been made, Robinson would’ve got valuable game time and we’d have known the answer to the question.

Chuffed with him playing for the US.

Fraser Hornby just scored a towering header against Togo there..

Hornby has done well, it’s about two years ago that he was appearing in mid field for Scotland U17s in a tournament and looking useful but not spectacular. He looks like he’s filled out a wee bit more, and Scotland are following our lead and lumping high balls up to him to win, that was a well taken goal , though without any challenge to him.
You can see he’s still learning the striker role. When he got the ball he was often turning away from goal and laying off the ball in comparison to DCL who is more prepared to use his strength and pace to go one on one against a defender.

...decent header, I notice Scott Gemmill manages that Scotland team.

Martina then Baines would have played ahead oh him. Wouldn’t have got a single minute IMO.

At times they seemed to be the only ones holding things together whilst the senior pros went missing. They'll all have learnt a lot this season. Even Davies.

..I recall we’ve had this chat but it’s not hindsight as I also recall posting 12 months ago that sending both Robinson and Connolly on loan was folly given Baines was bound to have injury problems.

Was with Dowell. But yes, however he could quite well have stayed fit all season is all I’m saying. Guaranteed minutes at Bolton trump a ‘maybe plays’ to me every day of the week.
