Everton Youth Teams Thread

Looks like Callum Connolly is also headed to Wigan on a season long loan.

"Report: Everton defender Callum Connolly set to leave for Wigan Athletic

According to a report in (an newspaper we shall not name) (live blog 14:00, 8th August), Everton defender Callum Connolly is set to leave Goodison Park in the near future.

Connolly will join Wigan on a season long-loan, with Everton letting the youngster leave.

Connolly is regarded as one of Everton’s top prospects, but it is questionable how much first-team football he would receive if he stayed with Marco Silva’s side this season.

The youngster, who plays in defensive midfield or at full-back, has plenty of competition from more senior players at Everton and a loan move was considered best for his development.

The 20-year-old will now head to newly promoted Championship side Wigan, where he should see plenty of action.

Connolly has spent the past two seasons out on loan from Everton, and this will be his second temporary spell with Wigan".

Everton u18s return to league action today home at finch farm for the 1st game of the season v Wolves, with an 11.30am ko,
while the u23s return to league action away at chelsea tomorrow with a 1pm ko

The 1st game in the u18s league was today with man utd drawing 3-3 with Derby
add to that the 1st game in the u23s was today, which was Brighton 0 liverpool 0

..whilst its unfair to judge on a couple of games, I thought they looked an ordinary group in the summer tournament but I guess it only takes one to come through.
In fairness mate the 1st year Scholars were often playing against older players and of course the 1st years we saw were keeping our 2nd year’s out of the team. We seem to settle on about 6 or7 per year progressing onto a professional contract and then maybe 1 or 2 going further with us. Certainly there was no stand out like Anthony Gordon last year, but I likeda few of them . I believe at least two of this batch will go on to be full internationals - c’mon Wales :)
