Everton Youth Teams Thread

Williams heading to Bolton on loan with the option of a recall by us

Seems to suggest the lad has a future at Everton in Marco's eyes. I've said for several years, Joe is the type of player who won't necessarily wow you with flashy play (although his through ball the other day for the U23s was sublime), but every team needs a Joe Williams in the squad.

Virginia is interesting, seems capable and a genuine two footed keeper.
We should really have a permanent right back or playing someone there with potential , I’d swap Charsley and Markelo . Markelo is too good not to play in midfield, Charsley may just have enough attacking avbility to make a decent full back.

What do you mean about markelo?

Thata awful logic.
1) he's came from league 1 so it will take time to adjust.
2) he's joined a mew team and has to learn how they play.
3) he's only 20.

1) the difference in league 1 and the championship is hardly massive
2) hes had a full preseason with his new manager and team mates
3) hes 21

Don't get me wrong I hope he makes it to the top but at the minute you'd have to say it doesn't look likely, definitely not as likely as 5 yrs ago

Well , as I said mate he’s too good a midfielder to play at right back , he’s versatile enough to play RB , but we need a regular Right back. We bought him with the intent of playing him in midfield and him and Adeniran have a good chance of building on the understanding they had when played together last season. With Williams going on loan Markelo/Adeniran offers our best regular midfield pairing @ 23s , depending on what plans are being made for Beni.

that was about 3 months ago and he cant get in the preston team, id be very doubtful at this stage he'll make it in the PL
Not like you to be so negative mate.

He did well at league 1 and I think was the division young player of the year (or maybe just nominated not sure). He's moved up a division and is probably getting used to the set up etc, same as we're doing with our new lads.

We all know it's going to be hard for the lad but I don't think he's 21 yet.
