Everton Youth Teams Thread

Everton u18s are looking to make it 7 wins from 7 in the 1st of 3 home games v west brom 11.30 ko,
After these home games, its then the u18s derby

EVERTON U18S TEAM
Tyrer, Astley, Collins, Phillips, Iversen, Warren, Carroll, Anderson, Zuk, Gordon, Simms,
Subs Joe Anderson,Thompson,Hughes,Adedoyin,Barrett

SIMMS MAKES IT 1-0 ON 2MINS
That’s a pretty strong bench we’ve got I.e. all have played a number of games at this level already and made a decent impression. It seems we have greater strength in depth than previous years when bench players often didn’t play and disappeared into obscurity. At this level though you might be better with 2 or 3 outstanding players than 11 good players, but there’s good promise showing already .......... kiss of death for today’s match them.

Everton u18s drew with west brom u18s 3-3 with goals from simms with 2, and phillips with one, phillips missed pen as well, west brom after winning there 1st game had lost the last 4 in the league

Table -top 4 are pulling away

Everton 19 points from 7 games
Liverpool 18 points from 7 games - [scored last min winner for 2nd game in a row]
Man utd 16 points from 7 games - [this includes man utd game today which is 3-0 v newcastle at ht]
Derby 14 points from 7 games

Everton u18s next game is 2 weeks today home to newcastle u18s

Does anyone remember an article posted on here a few months back about a youth goalkeeper who played for Everton ( Sam Carroll I think his name was) it wa a a great read but I only got halfway through it and totally forgot about it.

If anyone can remember it and post it again that would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah it was Sam Carroll, he wasnof an age and friends with Matt Pennngton. He writes for the Echo , used to cover our youth games but has been demoted to covering the RS, tough that. I tried a Google search but can’t find the article, may have been a blog.......err not much help me, sorry!

Cheers mate, I thought it might have been him who writes for the Echo. Yeah that's what it was as well, it was a blog of his but not sure where it came from.

Yeah I understand what you mean, totally. I didn’t mean to suggest you were wrong, just that I understand the reasoning behind and don’t necessarily think it’s as daft as you do.

I think the centre half thing is slightly different though. Browning has carried on playing regularly despite us now having 4 fit centre halves - I think he played 3 times last week. I said at the time, those players will play all season more or less, they’re on bigger wages and if we want to sell them they need to be in the shop window.
If they are going to sell Browning then they will have to sell him in January, he is out of contract next summer, I think he is looking to be a free agent at the end of this season.
