Kyle John has been playing right back since the start of the season as well he says

Yeah , Kyle John started off playing right back for the u18s this season , played the first 5 or 6 games there. The Doncaster match was his first appearance at U23s level , I think. He came on in this match when Hornby was injured ., it then looks like he was moved to left back when Foulds was sent off, and that’s the position he started his run from to score his goal.
With Foulds being sent off it looks like we re arranged the defence second half, bringing Gibson on for Charsley, Gibson going to left back and John going to right back. You can see that formation right right at the end just before our third goal.
I mentioned somewhere recently that Kyle John needs to be giving a shot at right back for the U23s , it may have been the Kenny thread discussing rightnback cover. We have little cover at RB at U23s; if Markelo is played in midfield we’re left with the likes of Charsley or Danny Bramall playing at right back who don’t have a lot of experience there.

Does anyone remember an article posted on here a few months back about a youth goalkeeper who played for Everton ( Sam Carroll I think his name was) it wa a a great read but I only got halfway through it and totally forgot about it.

If anyone can remember it and post it again that would be greatly appreciated.

It looks like we have a Lancashire F.A. Senior Cup match tonight against Bolton, with the winners away to Rochdale in the quarter final. These matches often have a mix of younger players and older players not getting time so it will be interesting to see team selection , maybe Gibson , Feeney getting more game time , a couple of u18s stepping up . On the other hand , match may just happen without the club revealing the team ......

I wonder would Mina Gomes and Coleman get minutes here or are they not eligible

...I got the impression Silva was looking to give them some game time via an arranged match ‘behind closed doors’. There was a time, though, that senior players coming back from long-term injury used the Lancashire League games for match fitness.

Haha, well I was right about the club not revealing the team , saw that on the Bolton site, pathetic really from us.
A nice blend of youngsters and older players who haven’t played mutch and it looks like three goalscorers in there .

It’s billed as Everton u18 v Bolton U19s , so I guess it fits with Tait, and they then discussed it as the three U23s starting , Gibson, Kiersey, Mampala, are all players who haven’t had much game time recently , so it makes sense. Unless we lose of course , then it will be Southampton all over again

I thought Adedoyin might have got more chances with U23’s but it’s a pretty big squad. Hoping for some loans out in January for the older ones.
