My impression is that quite often the 17 year olds / 1st year Scholars who stand out get 2 1/2 year contracts to tie them down . If they’re good 2nd years/ 18 it may be 2 1/2 or 1 1/2 years if they announce it early/ in January. If they’re offered a contract in June at the end of their Scholarship it’s often only 1 year. I guess it’s an indicator of how their potential is viewed. I would add that’s me just putting thoughts together based upon contracts in recent years, not something official I’ve seen.Another one on a 2 1/2 year deal. Not sure how long they were giving 17yr olds in the past. But I think that’s a really good way to go.
The past few years we’ve started announcing these contracts in January, and sometimes those who are not being kept on have been told too , though that’s usually in May.
