Everton Youth Teams Thread

Plus west brom despite been bottom of the league with 1 win are actually on a run of 5 wins from 6 including last night, and that 1 defeat is all they have actually had since that 10-0 win for Everton in November,Everton are away to west brom in a few weeks in the league

By the way Liverpool are leading stoke 2-1 at ht,liverpool will go 4 points ahead of us with same games played
Derby if they won there game in hand would also go 4 points above us
Liverpool win 3-1,and go 3 clear of Derby in 2nd who have game in hand,Liverpool are now 4 points ahead of us in 3rd with same games played as us
Week saturday Derby play Liverpool

This saturday Everton play Man city

Watched the near 7 min highlights from the u18s game earlier on west broms page after signing up free just to see them lol,as Everton will probably give you about 80 odd seconds if/when they show them, and looks like there was a few chances each could have scored more, game looks like it could have been about 7-6

Nothing like getting behind the youngsters and supporting them is there eh ?
I must admit my reaction was just the same as yours.
Then I thought that these reactions are perhaps not unsurprising, given our own club couldn’t even be arsed supporting our youngsters last night - yesterday there was no mention of the game on our Official Site, I only knew our team thanks to @Ring master ’s diligence and I tracked the game on the WBA Twitter while watching the 1st team. A few highlights now appear and we’ll eventually get a “plucky losers” report from Paul Tait on the OS with basic information that I could have written myself by visiting the WBA site .
It’s sad really how poor we are as a club on providing decent information on our youngsters and are continually made to look inadequate by many Championship clubs who have decent Academies and who promote them . The pre game stuff done by WBA on their u18s was very informative, and showed a great pride in their achievements.
Oh, and I still believe this is the best u18 squad we’ve had in years. Fume over

When our Everton Academy twitter page was made around a year and a half ago,i thought that it was going to be like some other teams, giving latest updates on games happening at that time, basically updating everything right away, saying when games would be on youtube or even showing via the twitter page, when we play etc,not say things days later,or as some cases over the last year say nothing at all,or say it 4 days later,or when you see something pop up via the site which is not exactly publicised,I thought they would change last night for our game in a Q/F or even the Q/F v boro few weeks back

On the back of your post and similar ones elsewhere, I contacted the club to advise a level of disappointment felt by sections of the fan base to an apparent lack of coverage of the U18s. I received the following response this morning...

We work closely with our colleagues at the Academy, Under-18 and Under-23 squads to make sure they are profiled and covered in line with their squad objectives.

We had a reporter at The Hawthorns on Tuesday to provide live updates on team news, goals, HT and FT scores on our EvertonLive matchday blog, which combined first-team build-up but made clear Under-18s’ coverage would be given throughout the evening. This was the top story on evertonfc.com from 5.45pm onwards and provided all the key moments from the Under-18s’ match. We then put a match report, with reaction from Paul Tait, on the top five stories of the homepage from 9.30pm, and followed that up yesterday with match highlights.

For the previous round – you’ll know that we provided a live stream of the match against Brighton in, along with behind-the-scenes content of the players in the Goodison tunnel and celebrating at full-time, which formed a key part of that week’s ‘Unseen’ content.

Unless i am missing something somewhere, there was no coverage of it on the page,no updates of it via everton at cardiff of goals/team news,ht or ft,and nothing said during the game,a report appeared after 10pm,and was said about the game via twitter the day after the game

Being honest with you mate, I don't know as I was watching the Cardiff game.
I asked the club why the U18s had seemingly been forgotten/ignored and that was the response they came back with.

This did not show the red card that west brom's does
This was west brom's 1st semi final since 1978 and they won it 1976

Shocking defending for most of their goals there :(

Sometimes I swear I should just email them and be like "Just pay me a half decent wedge and I will move up there and run your social media/streaming operations properly"!!:mad::coffee:

There needs to be a presence on social media. People are much likely to be on there than the website, especially during a 1st team game. I practically never go on the OS except to visit the shop, or for the odd one off report/article.

Yes,we could have conceeded more, the west brom version of highligths showed a few more chances and the Red card which our so called highlights dont,

I went on website to see Phil and i seen nothing at all team news, scores,ht,ft etc on u18s,and reading comments from twitter people didnt know the Everton team or score and a few people said there was no coverage so i am lost on there reply to Andy's post ,thats why if they did do it,which i have feeling they did not, were was it suppose to be as if it was on website they must have hid it well lol as you should still be able to see now if it was on tuesday as it does not seem to clear, just move down a page etc

some u23s they have said at the end of the night what the score of a game was, to then without them even saying anything via twitter that there was a blog on the u23s game via website, the u23s part seems to be a touch better now as they are actually saying when they play and say if a blog now

They should be proud of how the u18s/u23s are doing, the way other teams show games from lower leagues and put us to shame, its almost like boasting from them saying they showed the game last round, they should show every game for free, not make people sign up to a package to have the right to view the odd game they show via needing a package

I think “disingenuous “ is probabably the right word. So what they are saying is that the U18s was covered in the main match , the main match had top billing from 5 45 , therefore the u18shad top billing. Yeah right. I didn’t follow the OS feed as I was watching the Cardiff game , choosing the WBA Twitter for my updates, so I cant comment on whether they did update or not. But there was certainly no easily accessible u18 team news on Twitter/OS before hand.
Thanks for pursuing this one , it’s appreciated.

Playing devils advocate here because I genuinely have no idea, but is it not possible that the club has made a conscious decision not to talk about injuries/give too much coverage to u18s for safeguarding reasons? I don't mean to comply with laws, I mean making their own decision that lads of that age would be better off not being scrutinised to the extent that some people would evidently like, and it maybe isn't that important whether a couple of fans know whether a sixteen year old boy is out of favour or injured?

I was thinking the same.
