Everton Youth Teams Thread

...Michael Collins has joined Sunderland on a free transfer.
Seem to remember him being on trial at Sunderland earlier. In his first season Collins looked decent as a young CB, then got injured in 2nd season and Joe Anderson moved from left back to CB , Collins couldn’t get back in at U18 as a CB so went to LB . Joe Anderson gets a contract, Collins moved on, it’s a tough world for these kids , one injury and it can be difficult to get back.

from reading some quotes from sunderland seems he played games for their u18s and u23s last season. not sure how that works if he was our player

yeh but how long is a trial, could just be used as a way to get round the transfer window?
not that bothered like was just curious.
I’m not really sure, but they seem to have a relaxed attitude to youngsters and their registration, think it was Galloway who was on loan somewhere and they allowed him back to play u23 at the end of a season.

Yeh I know that was part of the new loan rules. The trialist stuff probably only applies to kids with no pro deals

Brands is only here a year
Its a long term plan not a quick fix
Unsworth will either have to change his ideas or be replaced.
I would not not be surprised to see him getting a first team managers job in a lower division soon ,or in Scotland
Sorry wasn’t doubting he will change it. It was more of a genuine question if it has happened already because I can’t get the u23 team here in the states

It’s a similar case to Nathan Holland who joined West Ham last year, if they are not managing to get in the under 18/23 team and the club has decided not to offer them a new contract they’re basically free to leave at the end of their contract, I think it’s the case that if another club shows interest and wants to play them then we don’t stand in thier way, no point stifling their development they could have careers at lower level clubs.

Under-18s goalkeeper Nicolas Hansen and defender Joe Anderson have signed their first professional contracts with Everton
Hansen, a 17-year-old USA youth international was rewarded for his progress since moving to Everton in 2017 and he has signed a two-year deal.
“Signing this deal is a proud moment for me and my family,” he told evertonfc.com. “It's everything I've been working towards these past two years.

“Since I first arrived here, it's been fantastic. It's been like a family. It's a great environment to be in and everyone is so supportive.
“Now I just want to repay the support the Club has shown in me by becoming the best goalkeeper I can be.”

Anderson, meanwhile, put pen to paper on a one-year deal and is hoping to make the step up from the Under-18s to the Under-23s this season.

“To sign a professional deal for such a big club, you can't ask for any more,” he said. “It was what I've dreamed of as a kid.
“My game has come on a lot since I joined Everton. At every level you are challenged, there is healthy competition for places and it improves you, because every player is giving it everything.

“Now I want to have a solid pre-season and, when I get a chance to play, to show what I can do. I want to pick up where I left off last season.”
