Read Mick Rathbone's book, it can become a nightmare. Less likely with Birmingham where they are now. Mick was totally in awe of Trevor Francis, couldn't even pass tohim.
Loved that book

Garbutt to Ipswich. So with Galloway off to Luton, Garbutt presumably off to Oxford, Robinson being wanted by Wigan then Lewis Gibson for me moves nicely into 3rd left back option. That may mean he stays at FF, plays CB alongside Astley with Feeney going on loan. I’d be happy with that. I don’t think Callum Connolly will be around and am assuming nobody will consider Martina to be left back cover ever again.

Indeed, he is a solid defender and not an attacking one, though a few years ago when he was the England u17 left back Gibson got forward more. He’ll hopefully make a CB eventually , just think his initial 1st team exposure will be at LB.....the only point I would make about Gibson is that he’s a defender who likes to defend. He’s not the same type as Digne and Baines, he’s unlikely to feel comfortable going beyond Bernard or being involved in intricate possession.
If Digne/Baines are the type Silva needs to fit his team model then I doubt Gibson could play that role. Saying that, the Baines contract extension might suggest Silva/Brands only looking for short-term back-up because a more permanent solution is coming through from the youth set up.

That’s good news , he was down as “offer” but there was also a rumour of him going back to the states. OS is all over the place with which u18/23 s we have but he’s our only GK back up to Virginia at U23s level.Goalkeeper Hansen Signs Two-Year Everton Deal

Would be great if we could finally produce a keeper through the academy.
...we were posting about that a few months ago and I could only come up with Andy Rankin who played a decent number of games. Geoff Barnett was good in the early 60s FA Youth Cup winning team and went on to play in an FA Cup Final for Arsenal.
Generally, goalkeepers were always thought to mature with age but they do seem to be getting younger these days. We have paid a lot of money for Virginia.
Virginia’s price was never disclosed so we don’t know if he was expensive or not.
