He's not a terrible player though. He'd have done no worse than sigurdsson or Bernard done this season and cost us 250k a week less.

I think we all wish Dowell well as we do with all young players sold or released by Everton.

A loan is alright for a young player for a season or two but they need to be able to settle into a club and build a career from there.
Going on loan is great experience but you are only on loan and the host club need you to be performing well, if not, then you are out of the picture very quickly as the club does not have real allegiance to the player or anything to gain in transfer fees if the player does really well.... this is a lot of pressure on young players.

We probably see more loans fail than succeed and some with really good players.

Kieran Dowell would not benefit at his age from being part of an extended squad but getting very little playing time. He needs to become a regular player now.

Pretty disappointing he or someone else wasn't given any opportunities towards end of the season to do something in our absolutely rotten midfield.
Doesn't say much for his prospects at Everton, likely go the Hornby route but suppose you never know for def.

I could well see Dowell doing well at Norwich and turning them a profit in a few years. Disappointed he never got a chance here, but wish him all the best in the future. Hopefully a team that will take a chance on him and develop him properly will get the best out of him, and hope he makes it back to the Premier League.

Shame for him he didn't find himself a club that wanted him 2 years ago after his Forest loan. Just feels like he's been bouncing around from loan to loan after that without any real direction. Hope it works out for him at Norwich.

Clubs wanted him, we said no. Sheffield Utd originally tried to sign him off us when they sold David Brooks to Bournemouth.

Pre covid I'd have wanted at least 5m for him plus hefty sell on percentage, now not sure what's realistic for money side.

U23s , and presumably u18s , return to training on Monday, we‘re even later than usual with the “ Meet the new Scholars” information. The new kids look an exciting bunch with 7 having featured at u18 as schoolboys , I’m presuming they’re all included in the new intake.
