Everton Youth Teams Thread

they both came on, actually look fairly similar in stature and appearance to me.
one of them kept giving the ball away but cant remember which one!

Fair enough mate. I think Butterfield is a bit talle and sits a bit deeper.

Price is very well thought of, more of an attacking midfield player. Either way, great to see 3 under 17's involved yesterday.

He broke his leg before signing Catcher playing the final game for his previous club. There was a really good article on him a month or so back and one of the u18 defenders name checked him for how vocal he was as captain. Can't remember his name

Sean McCalister. I think he's an under 18 (2nd year scholar). Haven't heard as much about him to be fair.

A couple of names to add, with the obvious cavaet they are with the 16's are Roman Quintyne who players as a left sided player. Got England recognition.

The other one worth noting is Heath, who is a small lad but plays a bit like Peter Beardsley from the middle of the pitch. Diminutive, but excellent close control and vision. He needs to grow a fair bit, but looks very talented, and ran the game against United recently.

I think Everton have failed to go through as Group winners for the simple reason Burnley scored a last minute 4th goal to win 4-1 at Man Utd [3-1 and Everton were in final 8] as i am using alphabetical order if that is what is used for the comp, if right i also think that 4th goal may have knocked Everton out totally in the end as there is still a few games to be played and many of them can get 6 points and have a better GD

Updated
Both Everton and Burnley have 2wins/1 defeat and have both scored 7 and conceeded 5

Seen it confirmed that head to head is used meaning Everton are i think the 1st team to go through to the final 8 of the premier league u17s cup, so table done right way

Final Table
Everton 6 points from 3 games - GD plus 2
Burnley 6 points from 3 games - GD Plus 2
Wigan 3 points from 3 games - GD Minus 1
Man utd 3 points from 3 games - GD Minus 3

Haha, thought exactly the same , Butterfield and Price are both tall and lanky I had to use their 15 and 16 numbers to distinguish between them !
Sean McAllister.
McAllister is currently Captain of the u18s and from the reports is the mature gel who holds the midfield together as a second year. So it was interesting that it was Butterfield and Price who got game time first at U23s level . As we don’t see much of them, I was waiting to see who would emerge first from a crowded midfield that includes Charlie Whitaker and Lewis Warrington as well as the three above. It shows the good way we are going that two 17 year olds get their U23s debut together last night. It was hard to tell much on last nights performance but it seems Butterfield and Price have nosed ahead of the pack.

They both featured for the U18s in the last match . This from after the match , also Jenson Metcalfe was the third schoolboy.
Isaac Heath was on the bench in the last match , not sure he got on then though.
Roman Quintyne got mentioned on here a few years ago , as he was in the same England team as Thierry Small .
Dont known anything about Jenson Metcalfe , vague memories that his name provoked comments about “ having a engine on him”
All three will be schoolboys getting their first taste of u18 and I think are midfielders
It’s usually about now you’d expect the schoolboys to feature at U18 . And I know we’ve got two promising attackers at 16s who’ve made an impact for England in the past. Hopefully they’ll soon get a chance too.

Looking at whose available for the first team one of the u23s is likely to be on the bench. I wonder if it is going to be Ryan Astley as he wasn't in the squad at all yesterday. I imagine having played on a Sunday and Monday Onyango and Small may get this one off.

There's a winger they got from United, plays on the right, small and tricky in the 16's. Also a midfielder called Pickford who is useful. Don't know much about Metcalfe at all.

Isaac Heath though is the standout. A brilliant footballer. Described to me as like a mini Beardsley, who just dictates games from midfield. He's seen as more promising than the others. Make of that what you will.
