Everton Youth Teams Thread

5th placed Everton u18s are back in action away to 9th stoke u18s tomorrow with an 11am ko,A win would put Everton 4th for hour or more
While Monday as said last week Everton u23s are away to Derby u23s with 7pm ko and that game is LIVE on Derby website, free sign up needed or use your details from last year etc.
The u18s game has now been called off for whatever reason, and changed to Tuesday 20th april with 2pm ko - this been the 2nd game in a week called off after the u18s city game last week [that city game is 27th april with 6.30pm ko] making it seem like we maybe have the virus ?

Lot of rain about last few days, maybe waterlogged pitch

Is there a problem with how we are developing the young players in the youth teams? Today we had two goalkeepers and three defenders on the bench. We don't seem to get players to first team level like others do. Arsenal have improved with bringing in their younger players. Man United built a team from their youth set up in the nineties. Liverpool seem to always be able to add a couple of players from their youth set up every couple of years. Why are we so bad at bringing players into our first team set up. We produce plenty of lads that end up in league on and two, but very few end up in our first team. At the moment Tom Davies is the only one whose come through for the last few years and had a good run in the first team.

We aren't bad, the whole league is bad

The class of '92 was a one off, and nearly 30 years ago.
Do they tho? They've had a couple very good ones a generation ago, and TAA recently, but who else who's really been any good?

I had switched off from watching the RS making Moyes life a misery. I was aware of at least two RS names I had never heard of getting the usual fawning media praise. I do know that Arsenal and Chelsea apparently have a fair number of exciting youngsters in their squads. What is the opinion of Unsworth's success or lack of it? If his success is based on results like producing 1st team squad players then surely he is a failure? opinion.

Is there any scrutiny of our youth teams performance by DOF/board? Barkley is the last decent homegrown player to come through, that was about 8 years ago.

It seems like the priority is giving ex players a coaching role, not developing young players who can make it in first team.

Compared to rest of PL, our record is tragic.

State of the art training complex and millions invested into youth academy and the best we produce in 8 years is a Rodney Mullen wannabe who’s not good at football. Sterling stuff.

Depends on what you class as coming through. DCL and Holgate were signing for the academy, played for them & now are starters so to me they came through there.
