Everton Youth Teams Thread

A couple of names to add, with the obvious cavaet they are with the 16's are Roman Quintyne who players as a left sided player. Got England recognition.

The other one worth noting is Heath, who is a small lad but plays a bit like Peter Beardsley from the middle of the pitch. Diminutive, but excellent close control and vision. He needs to grow a fair bit, but looks very talented, and ran the game against United recently.
Roman quintyne, is outrageous even for a champ manager regen

There's a winger they got from United, plays on the right, small and tricky in the 16's. Also a midfielder called Pickford who is useful. Don't know much about Metcalfe at all.

Isaac Heath though is the standout. A brilliant footballer. Described to me as like a mini Beardsley, who just dictates games from midfield. He's seen as more promising than the others. Make of that what you will.
Yeah , I saw a photo of the ex United guy in their colours , just a wee toot then maybe 12 or 13 . I know George Pickford was with England u15s at the end of last year , could be a young u16 in the school years . We had a couple of others in that England u15 too , but it’s always hard to tell at that age if it means anything.
From the bits I’ve seen of Isaac Heath your description is spot on, wonderful ball control in the middle of the pitch, turns on a sixpence and as you said was dictating the game. He‘s really small though even compared to kids of a similar age, like a Liam Walsh. But he wasn’t being knocked off the ball or anything. It‘ll be interesting seeing how he develops whether his skill will overcome his size, but I’m sure he’s had that question asked of him before and he’s got this far .

Yes, I didn't know Pickford was with England, but thats always a good sign. A know there's a left back (Samuels Smith) and a goalkeeper (Jensen) who have been involved with England from Everton. There's a tricky right winger, with a double barrelled name who tmhey got from United (I think Jacob is his first name) is another who's talented.

Heath though seems to mentuoned mentioned as a cut above. As I said apparently just ran the game against United, nobody could get near him. Some suggestion he's the best we've had since Barkley, but always with the cavaet hes very small. He eems to be more highly rated than Walsh, and more of an offensive player, but similar issues re size.

There is also another lad, who's name evades me, who Liverpool really wanted, and see as "the one who got away" but he's a big Evertonian and was ony ever going to sign for us. Apparently rolled the red carpet out with Klopp meeting him, but again I'm afraid the name evades me. In honesty I wonder if there are 2years worth of players there, as ordinarily it's a very high number of potential players coming through.

It had been a bit of a lean run, but the last years set of scholars, and the next one seem more promosing. Small has made a debut now, and Price/Butterfield are well spoken of (Price is seen as very creative). It's great to see both playing for the reserves now. Reece Welch looks a good CB but needs to kick on a bit.

It seems more of an effort is now being made to track youngstars through. If I can find the name of the lad that got away from Liverpool that would be great, but probably he, and Heath are worth watching as they go into the 18s next season. By all account Heath has balance, strength, vision, speed. Beardsley was the name mentioned, but some have mentioned the name Rooney and Messi like dribbling skills (I am assumign meant for within his age group and stylistically, rather than he is going to be a Rooney level player!)

Yeah, I was watching the highlights wondering if it was u18s they looked so young, the odd exception aside (Baningime).

Wwe had 4 under 18's involved last night mate, and 3 of them are under 17's. So thats really good. Even Onyango who's a 2nd year scholar is still only 17 and March born, so a younger 2nd year scholar.

Some of the subtly changes Brands is making are starting to be seen. We are making more pathways for younger players.

Yep we’re on the same lines, the England u15 I have are Pickford, Jensen and Samuels Smith the left back who I think has a brother maybe twin who plays in midfield with us.
At England u16s last year it was mainly Jacob Beaumont- Clark , ex United , who from the little ive seen looks similar to Dobbin, and Emilo Lawrence who’s played mainly wide left with an 11 on his back when I’ve seen him - he’s the one the RS really wanted too a few years back. Only Lawrence was in recent England squads , we’ve also had Owen Barker and Roman Quintyne involved previously. We had a brief discussion on this about two months ago and @Pabbers said Barker had been given a Scholarship.

All very , very early days for these kids of course and we know we are lucky if even one or two make it, but promising for the future. And importantly we have a more cohesive approach now if you’ve got talent - play u18s early, move up to U23s early get your chance in the first team squad if you're good enough.

Thats the lad, Lawrence. Liverpool see him as the only local player in the last few years that they've wanted to sign but couldn't. I mean read into that what you will (I suspect there's a bit of gamesmanship, as in all honesty we still produce more local lads than them, but it gets equalised when they start lashing huge sums of money around from under 18's upwards) but they really wanted Lawrence. Apprently he's a massive blue so there was no chance.

You have the lad from United right as well.

It does seem as if it's 2 year groups really, as it's a lot of representation atm international level (even across 2 year groups). I'm not sure if Heath might be part of the younger of the two year groups aforementioned.

Keep an eye on him and Lawrence.

Pretty impressive to have 5 England youth internationals u15/u16.

I remember reading on here a year or two ago that there was a fantastic youth age group we had...cant remember if u15s or u12s or something that a few posters were raving about...

Any ideas?

I guess for those two we'd probably hear more in 2 seasons?

I think Lawrence is a year below the 16s, do a while yet.

And yes we do have a lot of representation.

I dont know about a specific strong year group, but this years 17s were always well spoken of. You probably remember me saying about Small 18 months ago or so but Price, Butterfield, Whittaker, Welch were all very well regarded.
