Everton Youth Teams Thread

Is Health a typo and meant to be the young kid Heath we've heard so much about. Or do we actually have a lad called Health in our U18s. Unusual name if so.

If it is Heath, great to see him getting a start in the U18s. Is he 15 ?

As well as Heath it’s a first start for Romain Quintyne , and Ferreira , and Tierney on the bench are all Schoolboys too . I think that’s another typo and it’s Owen Barker on the bench.
Harry Hagan hasn’t featured lately , back from injury.

Neither Harry Hagan or Seb kristensen have really featured during the u18 phase, so I don't think it's a return from injury. The CB partnership last season seemed to be Reece Welch and Dylan Thompson

Ah thanks, I saw at one time Hagan was playing right back to the Welch/ Thompson partnership then disappeared out the squad completely and assumed he was injured.

Yes he did play at right back. There were a few appearances from Liam Higgins, and Joel Davidson, and now Matty Mallon (after his return from injury) at right back as well. Seems the back line is a bit unsettled or going through a restructure

Looking at the contract situation at the the end of the season there are 12 u23s out of contract 5 of these (Pennington, Connolly, Adeniran, Bowler and Broadhead) are older and will definitely be released. Of there other 7 I would release Hansen, Barrett, Ouzounidis and Carroll. I would give John and Anderson another year as the only other full back is Thierry Small. I would give Astley a 2 year contract but he needs to go somewhere on loan. Baningime and Markelo would have 1 year left I would try and sell if we can't get anything for them loan them out again.

In the u18s there are 14 2nd year scholars 8 of which have already got extensions. Of the other 6 I would try and keep Cannon and Higgins but would probably release the other 4.

Ah. I’d forgotten that “ Ferreira” is our 2nd year Rafael Garcia Ferreira, sometimes he’s been just Rafael Garcia . It’s good to see him back he’s been out injured for about 19 months.

Young Everton striker Rafael Garcia has made his return for the first time in 19 months after a long-term injury.

The 18-year-old was involved from the bench as the Blues under-18s side lost 4-1 to Newcastle United on Saturday, with the youngster making his way onto the pitch in the 73rd minute.

That was his first appearance since suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the summer of 2019, which ruled him out of action for 19 months.
Garcia posted on Instagram after making his return, saying: "Unlucky result today but good to be back out there after 19 months."
The striker signed his first professional contract with Everton in October 2019, putting pen-to-paper on a deal to keep him with the club until June 2022 despite the serious injury he had just suffered.

Rafael Garcia Injured himself in the otten cup 17th August 2019 v Inter Milan, going into a tackle in a very stupid way, all his own doing at the time as he was only on mins, as i said back then
