Everton Youth Teams Thread

Given his progression and the amount of youth teamers travelling with the first team this season, I do wonder where Mohamed Ali Cho would be with the club at this point had he stayed. Not saying he made the wrong decision for himself but having a left footed right-wing of his level would've made things interesting, or he could still be in the U18s for us.
Apparently he has got 15 first team appearances in the Ligue 1 as a sub, so not doing badly for himself.

Yeah Angers . It was a shame we lost him , came from PSG originally as I remember , and he seemed to be established in the England youth set up too , same year as Small at one time. If we could have kept him to Scholarship age we might have had a chance , heh ho it happens.

It’s certainly a more encouraging set up for our youngsters now , this level of exposure for 1st year Scholars is unprecedented in the last few years. While it doesn’t guarantee any of them will make it , it certainly shows that there is exposure and a path forward if you’re good enough which can only help us to keep and attract good youngsters.

Agree I think it's putting them in a much better position to possibly succeed here than previous years which can only help others wanting to stay

Wow mad that. Was he a red too? Always got the sense Branch was a blue?

I watched back one of our old season reviews recently, and while it's only highlights Branch looked very impressive when he 1st broke in. More so than I remembered.

I think he picked up a couple of bad injuries and when he came back wasn't quite the same player. He had also fell behind Cadamarteri in the pecking order. Probably didn't help the mess the club was in at the time.

Hes still only 17 and has made 8 sub appearances for them including 30mins in their last game.

I imagine thats a step up from u23s with us.

That makes some sense. I always felt Cadamateri was more highly thought of soming through, but maybe that was a bit harsh on Branch.

We seem to produce a lot of central midfielders I just hope one of them stands up and makes it to the first team. We produced Ledson, Williams, Walsh, Davies and Baningime all in close order and they will all have decent careers but only Davies has made any impact on our team.
I remember back when they were all coming through, posting on here or another yoof thread that it would be interesting to see what happens/difficult for many of them to break through as we had such a glut of young prospects all in the same position. Good to see that neary all of them have found a permanent club at a decent level, with a chance of making back up to the PL (if not there already).

Last season Thompson was the main centre back , and it looked like he’d established a pairing with Welch. Even at the start of this season he was being selected ahead of Kristensen and Hagan who had contracts, then he seemed to fade out of the picture. I guess we don’t see what the coaches see in training and matches, but in the bits I’ve seen of them it’s hard to see Hagan and Kristensen, apart from his size, being that much better than Thompson . Hope he finds somewhere . I think that just leaves Daniel Lowey left , hard to see him getting a contract.

I’m not sure if it was an official source that I missed at the time, but Joel Davidson , the right back 2 nd year, announced last month that he had decided to retire due to persistent injuries, which was really bad luck for him. Presumably we’ll have looked after him to a certain extent.

8 subs named including 2 keepers. Not sure why the club wouldn't just tell Ancelotti to bring another kid along as well. Small known to be unhappy with lack of involvement would seem a convenient way to get him in or even just bring Cannon or someone along. Still good to see Welch and Price there
