Everton Youth Teams Thread

Thierry Small hasn’t returned for pre season training, has a new representative and is trying to move. Arsenal & Man Utd interested. (The Athletic)

Same would let him go no matter how good he is no place for that at this club
Are you really suggesting that you crush a 15/16 year old kids dreams for a stupid comment he has made. Do you think that will make him less racist going forward or more resentful

Were you that perfect at his age. Do you think that is what Rashford would suggest to do

surely you give talks to all age groups about such behaviour being unacceptable. Educate them rather than punish them. See if some older black professionals at the club can have one on one discussions with the kid to express how racist comments have affected them

Agreed, get the kid to go to black communities, educate the kid. If we start shunning young kids all over the country, the right wing group will only benefit.

just read this article now, not sure where the blame lies here but it seems the club is doing everything to assure him, big contract, first team locker.

Kid has talent, but if he is so concerned he has digne and Nkounkou ahead of him he is thinking about leaving and not sure if he needs better advisors. The clubs being linked to I doubt he’d have a better chance of progressing, he’d be better accepting the contract and fighting it out - if digne is out for a while he should take that as a opportunity.

snide move not returning for training.

Seems weird to me...becomes the youngest ever player at the club...seems like hes been training with the first team.

It can only be two things...Digne and Nkounkou being ahead of him and/or money.

It doesn’t matter what he’s done here, he’s certainly done enough to be wanted by what I assume will be another cat 1 club.

He’s clearly been tapped up and unless we’re prepared to match the offer of whoever’s tapped him up, he’ll walk away. All we’ll get is a development fee if nothing can be agreed otherwise.

There’s a huge amount of post Brexit aggressive recruitment going on by cat 1 clubs this summer and I’ve posted about this over the last few months but we’re missing the boat. That’s not an opinion, it’s a fact.

Us losing our best prospect to one of our rivals would just be the icing on the cake.

I would assume if he has not reported back after pre season that it's likely he will sign a Pro contract with another club on August 1st.

…probably a bit of both those things, Zat. I actually think youngsters will look at the likes of Sancho & Bellingham, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Small ends up abroad.

From what I saw of him last season, he‘s got a lot to learn regarding ball retention and defending. He’s got genuine pace & athleticism going for him but I didn’t watch him & think he looks the most likely to break through.

A big shame if it happens, caught out by his August birthday , all the other outfield Scholars in his group have been given a contract already except Eli Campbell who’s also early August birthday , so I’d expect him to be offered one then.

think it'll be money and his new agents telling him to go elsewhere, if its not abroad he's a fool though, arsenal/city/utd he won't get in for years, even though our record of bringing youth through isnt great, if they are good enough they get time.

He should have backed himself really, 1) Digne is a good player but lets be honest I cant see him spending the rest of his career here 2) Nkounkou is good but by all accounts I could see him going out on loan.

He could have had a good go at making that spot his own, specially if Digne has an injury.

I think this will be down to money rather then progression personally. Poor choice.
