Everton Youth Teams Thread

I am surprised we haven't looked to bring any young talent now the ban has finished Leeds seem to be picking a couple and villa who already have a great academy have pick up the young lad at Fleetwood who seemed highly rated
Others have a better knowledge of youth transfers than me, I only know of one of these Scholars who appears to have been brought in. When I look at the make up , 5 defenders and 7 midfielders both are areas of current strength. So on that basis you’d say if they believe they have a good crop of players in these areas why would you bring in others unless they are of exceptional talent .
The one area we’re weaker is in forwards . Only Kouyate came in last year , and I don’t know the details but it looks like this years only forward ,Smickle- James has been brought in from outside. Though as we’ve already mentioned there are high hopes for Lawrence.

doesn’t seem like anybody has been brought in for this years scholar intake, seems as though Troy joined from Birmingham at U11. As you’ve said club only have brought through one forward, however U15s Emilio Lawrence & Coby Ebere are rated very highly.

Quite a few of this 1st year scholars are rated highly too. Metcalfe, Tierney, Heath etc.

It's maybe how they classify positions. Sometimes wide players are classed as midfielders sometimes as forwards so if 3 of the midfielders are wingers the squad looks better balanced.

they brought in a forward/winger from utd too, beaumont-clark who I thought would have been a new scholar but must be still too young

There’s a bit in the Echo on Tyler Onyango. Most of it is repetitive tosh, but it says he hopes to be back playing end of pre season and he’s currently doing gym work to build himself up. There was also a suggestion that if he hadn’t have got injured he’d have had PL game time, cant see that myself, bench time yes but Carlo had his own set way in that respect. I think he’ll need the first few months to work himself back in after the injury, and maybe adjust a bit if his body has developed further, plenty of time no need to rush him.

I mentioned at the time I thought Onyango would make his premier league debut when Doucoure was out but then obviously he got injured too so didn't happen
