Everton Youth Teams Thread

Well deserved, and a bit of a surprise package at the end of the season. He’d hardly featured at u18s until April , then coming on early for Dobbin in the Chelsea Youth Cup game seemed to transform things. A good performance there and in the loss to WBA and suddenly he was starting for the U23s in the last two games against Southampton and playing well. There’s tough competition in midfield in his age group let alone the older ones , it’s great that they have enough faith in him to give him an early contract .

Out of curiosity for the people who know a bit more!

How many players do we go and find who have been released by some of the more bigger acadamys?

I know we got Simms from Man City but at what age did we get him?

I'm just curious as i notice that a lot of our lads have been at the club since they were in there early years and have been there 8-10 years now! Is that a bit to comfortable? Are we ruthless enough in terms of bringing other kids in?

It looks like the list of new Scholars is out. I noticed we’d updated the official u18 names, no details just names. These are the 12 names I recognised as “new” so not official yet.

Defenders:
Jack Tierney
Edward Jones
Roman Quintyne
Charlie Wilson
Harry Wright

Midfielders:
Owen Barker
Isaac Heath
Shae Cahill
Sam Coughlan
Halid Djankpata
Saja Manafa
Jenson Metcalfe

Forward: Troy Smikler-James.

Shae Cahill is Tim’s son. Tierney, Quintyne,Barker, Heath, Metcalfe , Manafa, featured at u18 last season, Quintyne and Metcalfe also at U23s. Charlie Wilson seems a familiar name but can’t place him to playing at u18. All are down as “ England” at the moment, no doubt we’ll find out more when their bios are included.
A nice number of new names there to find out about. Welcome guys!

Well the Academy ban , now finished, stoped us recruiting in England for a while. Simms came to us at 16. We also got goalkeeper Jak Stewart from City at 15. I was checking that fact when I noticed the new Scholars, as above. We’ll get further details on these soon which may indicate previous clubs. I believe Troy Smikler-James came from Birmingham City.

Some interesting names there , Emilio Lawrence and Coby Ebere not there are they too young

I am surprised we haven't looked to bring any young talent now the ban has finished Leeds seem to be picking a couple and villa who already have a great academy have pick up the young lad at Fleetwood who seemed highly rated

No big surprise to see him leave although I guess it's slightly odd that he wasn't mentioned when we announced our expiring contracts.

Tyrer and Leban seem to be much more highly thought of anyway, so his prospects didn't look too good with us. Good luck to him!
Liam Walsh former Everton player has also joined Swansea on a three year contract after being released from Bristol City, a young player at Everton now twenty four who has no luck with one injury after another throughout his career.

Yeh he just can't stay fit, shame as he had/has the quality to play premier league football if he ever got a full season under his belt
