Everton Youth Teams Thread

Well it is important as we’ve previously had one of the older teams in the league which isn’t a good sign for development or a pathway.
Yeah, it's cyclicle. People get older, every year, so we've had a good group who have reached the point of leaving having not broken through.

We are at the start of a new cycle with another good group of youngsters and its becoming harder and harder to make the break through to the 1st team with the money on the line and expecting young players to have the physicality of the pros.

I think getting players coached well enough to give them a chance of a career is the most important thing, and when those stand out players come along, we are hopefully in a good place to take advantage. But they are fewer and further between.

Academy players learn the most playing people older than they are. The younger our team the better for their development. It’s been a gradual but welcome shift since Brands arrived.

When do the youngest team points get added in? Is that usually a couple of days later?
I know other people have already replied with the general context for this but just wanted to give my opinion on it too.

I'm actually not sure whether this is the right tactic, that's why I'm making sure to list both teams average age. This way we'll find out whether everyone has had roughly the same idea we've had, if so then really what we've done is create an under 20s league and nobody is getting the perceived benefit of "playing against older players" that the under 23 stipulation was meant to bring.

I had wondered about that too.

But at least they are now playing against their age group.

U23 football doesn’t in most cases lead to the PL. Of course there are exceptions, but most of those players will need to go on loan to get experience in proper competitive football.

At least bringing the age down will lead to those loan decisions earlier.

Was that ever confirmed at all?
Yeah Dylan Graham the N Ireland goalkeeper did sign, he was actually in that photo of the youngsters holding up their GCSE certificates the other week, although not in a GK s jersey.
I make it we have at least 9 goalkeepers on our books, the 3 first team “ oldies”, Virginia about to go on loan, Tyrer injured, Leban whos previously looked better than your report of last night, Barrett who’s about 19 and contracted for another year, Jak Stewart, 17 and about 6 ft 3 ish , Dylan Graham .

and Jensen, only 15 but was on the bench on Saturday for the u18s

@EFC_FRANCIS when Higgins came on for Anderson did he play left back or was John moved across? We seemed to have got into a situation where Anderson is our only left footed left back around.
John moved over to Left back with Higgins playing in sort of an advanced RWB.

It is funny how a player who was probably a bit fortunate to get an extension is now one of our most crucial players in the sense he literally has no replacement so can't be dropped or rested. Anderson also took all corners when he was on the pitch as well
