It’s really disappointing how little international representation we have in these age groups.
1 in each of the u20, u19 & u18 squads and none, not even Emilio Lawrence, making the u17 squad for their first ever round of euro qualifiers.
International recognition isn’t everything but I think this is an indication of just how poorly our Academy is viewed at the moment.

Hasn’t Lawrence opted for Scotland u17s.? I noticed Cameron Bell played for them in two games last month but Lawrence wasn’t in the teams . The only doubt I have is that I think it was our Official site called him a “ Scottish youth international “ recently , hard to believe they’re right but likely true.
But agree with your sentiments re lack of international recognition.

Hard to get best youngsters to sign pro. Big issue at clubs where players don't see a pathway to playing.
Why sign a contract where you don't believe you will get a chance and where the likes of Dortmund can point to 10+ teenage regulars in last few years.
Everton are in pretty big trouble in this regard, they aren't alone in that.

id say they're working on it, not long turned 17.
Wow , that sounds serious , and you seem to know a lot about this, I was only aware of Small and I think from memory that only Campbell of the 17 year old outfielders has still to be offered/ sign a pro contract .
So who are all the others you know of that haven’t signed a pro contract?

Did the the ex everton player you have said was better than Lawrence make the squad either?
He never no. I think he might be injured though.
He had made England squads but he hasn’t recently. He does have a lot of injury problems.
They don’t pick at this age, they can play for both but now they’re getting into qualifiers that won’t be there case. It won’t define them for life but picking one in a euro qualifier will mean they’re stuck with them for a year or 2.
I know Emilio and his family, they want to play for England.
Lost Cho and a GK to Schalke too.
The poaching tends to happen 15-18, now we are outside the EU the Germany moves won't happen until 18.
But I'd say every player agent of the elite youth is telling them to shop around rather than automatically signing with the club they've been trained at.
We'll see far more of the Livramento type moves too. Sold with buybacks after the first pro contract.
