Everton Youth Teams Thread

Well it’s being going on for 15 years or so at Chelsea not just the last few years, 5 or 6 years ago they were arguably even more dominant, others have learnt from them . You can’t really explain the difference between them and us in a few sentences, and my view will be different from others.

Try this as a comparison though. After Abramovich took over they restructured their club and along the way made a commitment to creating the best Academy in the world. This was supported by Abramovich and they ploughed money, resources like Cobham , new scouting and coaching systems etc into it. Everton also have a “ desire” to have the best Academy in the world, I know this because David Unsworth said it last year when he became the Director of Academy. Other than that statement I've seen no evidence since that we have any desire in our club to even develop our Academy let alone a desire to be the best in the world. I don’t blame Unsworth for this, except maybe for stating a laughable desire which we will never even get close to without a commitment throughout the club , starting from the owner down .
When it comes down to the facilities at Finch Farm we must surely have one of the best Academy’s in Europe, it’s just that the young players and the coaches don’t seem to be up to the standards of the top clubs.

Did you even bother to check RS scores in this competition before posting your usual inane drivel?
I was referring to the Carabao Cup, a team full of their youngsters beat a Preston team.
The U18s have just been smashed by them as well 0-4 so it looks like things are not changing for a while, so yes I do keep in check with things within the youth set up

Their team full of youngsters was a starting XI with an average age of 24.5 and featured 7 full internationals. Excellent insight.

Is this a joke? Their starting line-up vs Preston had 2 academy players in it, 3 more came on as subs with 2 of those being in the 91st minute after they were already 2-0 up thanks to goals from Minamino and Origi.

Think you need someone to send through that braille paper again.

That’s the difference between us and the red S£#te their youth beat teams in the Mickey Mouse cup, our youth get beat against bloody Hartlepool
Not even the same competition mate, this one used only be exclusively for League One and Two clubs before the EFL decided to invite a number of teams from PL2 per season

The RS U21s have been smashed in both their games 4-0 at Rochdale and 4-1 at Bolton and are pretty much out

We do not have load of talented players which understandably.
But we can teach them to play good football, modern football, not style that their manager used to play 20 years ago lol

Teenage goalkeeper Patrick Nash believes he is in the perfect environment to improve after signing for Everton on a deal until June 2022.

The 17-year-old – who is named after Northern Irish goalkeeping legend Pat Jennings – will link up with Paul Tait’s Under-18s team for the remainder of the 2021/22 season.

Aldershot-born Nash, who formerly spent time at Reading FC’s academy, paid tribute to the welcoming atmosphere at Everton and revealed his excitement about pulling on a Toffees jersey for the first time.

“It feels really good to get the deal across the line,” Nash told evertonfc.com.

“I’m really buzzing to get going now and get on the pitch. By far, Everton is the friendliest club I’ve ever been to.

“Everyone around the place, from the guys at the gate to those on the pitch, have been brilliant.

“It’s a great group of lads in the Under-18s and, especially when I’m moving away from home, it’s really important for me to settle in. The lads are really friendly, which help that.”

Nash explained how Everton’s Head of Academy Goalkeeping, David Lucas, was instrumental in bringing him to the Club.

The gifted young stopper is now aiming to repay Lucas’ faith.

“Dave knew about me when he was at Fleetwood Town,” said Nash.

“He wanted to get me there but unfortunately it didn’t happen for whatever reason.

“When Dave moved to Everton, he got back in touch and said he would like to get me back involved.

“I came up to Everton for a week in August [on trial] and was taken aback by the friendliness of the Club.

“I’m really pleased to be here now.”

Nash added he is embracing the challenge of moving away from his Hampshire home at such a young age – and believes he will mature on and off the pitch at Everton.

He said: “When you’re my age, people think it’s all about winning and that you need to win things to succeed.

“For me, enjoying this experience and developing as a person and as a goalkeeper is the most important thing.”

Everton Under-18s are next in league action on Saturday 6 November, when they host Blackburn Rovers at USM Finch Farm.

He looks about 2 stone soaking wet. Bit of a mad one only on a end of season deal but they mustn't think much of the Irish lad

…when we sign a keeper on this type of deal it’s often ensuring we have enough cover to fulfil fixtures.
If there's one position that's well stocked though, Tyrer, Leban, Graham, Barrett and Stewart already at the club. Even if there are some injuries not declared you'd have to think the U16 keeper could be thrown on the bench. Maybe this is just a longer trial of sorts and the club thinks there's something in there.

There is an interesting video on this kid online looks like he was falling out of football and has bounced back somewhat.
