Everton Youth Teams Thread

I mean have you got any evidence to back up either of those figures.
Before his injury Onyango was 78kg . Coming back from injury he bulked up to 89kg but for the role expected of him he come back down to 85kg. In terms of avarage weight of premier league footballers you can just Google that mate.

He’s very tall though isn’t he, still needs to bulk up looking at him.

There has to be a balance between the weight you are carrying and the amount of running you are expected to do. You just have to look at middle and long distance runners. He has to be able to do at least 12km per game and have enough in the tank for the full 90+ mins

genuine question but how do you know the specifics of someones weight before and after injury?

That’s true, I think he will naturally fill out a bit more yet though.

My memory of Alex Denny was that he really didn’t make much impression at all for us. I remember he was in the Euro U17s squad , I remember seeing Gibson at left back , he was then at Newcastle but can’t remember seeing Denny. At least the likes of Joe Williams and Liam Walsh made an impression even if they didn’t make it with us. Maybe he’s a slow burner who will climb the leagues, good luck to him if he does but I can’t see it.

He wisent in the squad

I really don't understand how Chelsea keep producing these outrageous youth talents , it's actually a joke. You look at players coming out of Cobham from last couple years compared to ours from last 20 Years and it's staggering. We may aswell not bother with youth team and just adopt a Brentford approach but only with Chelsea "rejects".

Well it’s being going on for 15 years or so at Chelsea not just the last few years, 5 or 6 years ago they were arguably even more dominant, others have learnt from them . You can’t really explain the difference between them and us in a few sentences, and my view will be different from others.

Try this as a comparison though. After Abramovich took over they restructured their club and along the way made a commitment to creating the best Academy in the world. This was supported by Abramovich and they ploughed money, resources like Cobham , new scouting and coaching systems etc into it. Everton also have a “ desire” to have the best Academy in the world, I know this because David Unsworth said it last year when he became the Director of Academy. Other than that statement I've seen no evidence since that we have any desire in our club to even develop our Academy let alone a desire to be the best in the world. I don’t blame Unsworth for this, except maybe for stating a laughable desire which we will never even get close to without a commitment throughout the club , starting from the owner down .

Exactly, whereas I bet our "scouting" network consists of the same blokes who have been there.for 20 years who probs still fax over Player reports. Club needs to change because soon every prem team will have billionaire owners but will have the structure and resources to spend their money wisely and will surpass us.

And just in case you haven’t had enough pain and misery of late from our club, the u21s/U23s are in action tonight.

Official Members can watch Everton's pivotal Papa John's Trophy clash with Hartlepool United on Tuesday (7pm BST) live on evertonfc.com!

David Unsworth's side are in with a shout of progressing to the competition's last-32 following one win and one defeat from their opening two group-stage fixtures.

Victory over the League Two club would guarantee a top-two finish and a spot in the draw for the first knockout stage. Defeat or a draw for Everton in the north-east would see Hartlepool advance at the Blues' expense.

Everton win puts them top of the Group, defeat leaves them 2 points from 2nd and with a game played more with a worst GD
