I'm pretty sure that's plenty of experience at right back if required! You know its almost as if thats enough experience to ALLOW you to possibly take abit of a gamble and bring someone inexperienced in!

Quite scary really . Everybody saw what a talent Livramento was against us in the Youth Cup. We have no money to spend so £5 mill was a bargain, but I also suspect that Livramento is too attack minded for Benitez . So he wants an experienced , defensively capable right back that we can get for little money or free. Sadly we haven’t got a capable right back at U23s/18 who’s pushing for a first team squad place yet.

The Livramento shouts are a bit weird, for me. Players making the jump from other teams’ academies are very hit and miss (Solanke, Brewster, etc) at best and the fact this boy has done well so far at Southampton is no indication he’d have done well here. As many people are moaning about in the Digne thread, Benitez likes his full-backs to defend which tends to be the Achilles heel of younger players who are more prone to going forward.

all that proves is benitez is a clueless dinosaur.
everyone knew livramento had what it takes (barring injury) to play PL football and was a no-brainer for 5m.
liverpool got solanke on a free transfer and made 20m profit on him, bad example.

As Solanke was under twenty four when Liverpool signed him they had to pay compensation for him which was about four or five million £’s but as you say they still made a very handsome profit on him.

Didn’t he sign Glen Johnson for Liverpool? He wasn’t really a defensive right back.
