Brilliant night for all involved with the Academy tonight, Gordon and Dobbin were exceptional, Simms had some good moments too, Onyango, ok only a few minutes off the bench but did his job.

Proud blue here tonight.

Get them all back into the U23s , Branthwaite too, bring Broadhead and Kean back from their loans and we can win PL2

….the Acadamy gets lots of stick but the youngsters did terrific last night.

Problem we've had for a number of years is the manager is often in a difficult position and won't take the risk of playing youth. The academy is clearly bringing through relatively decent players but they just don't get a chance.

….I keep thinking of the last 30mins at Brentford when we needed a goal and Benitez left Dobbin and Simms on the bench. Gray fizzed two crosses across the six yard box, Rondon was ponderous & nowhere near getting on the end of them.

Two bright youngsters with natural goalscoring intuition sitting on the bench when we desperately needed a goal, it was folly and stubborn of Benitez not to utilise them in that moment.

And to a degree Palace. That's the flip of yesterday. Where have these lads been all season?

Particularly Dobbin, who looks tailored made to buzz around the "scraps" of what a Rondon could generate.

A brief off topic post. I’m sure most people will be aware of the sad death of messymascot, Karl Graham. He was an active contributor to this thread until recent times when his illness became more severe. Many tributes have been paid in the thread he started.Rest in Peace messy.

Archie Gray , 15 , is on the subs bench for Leeds today . I mentioned him about a month ago as he was playing in the same England u16 match as our player Ishe Samuels-Smith and he was a clear MOTM for me . From the Leeds “ Gray Family” dynasty , and presumably still a schoolboy, certainly one to watch out for.
