Do you honestly think we have a plan?I joined this forum because I, as a Scotland fan think Nathan Patterson is a prodigious talent. Possibly the best to come out of Scotland since Tierney or Robertson. I have seen him for 60 mins in the U23's game in which he created a goal and 45mins, as a wingback in the cup. IMHO he was close to being the best player for Everton in that first half. He was taken off for 'tactical reasons' OK... fine.
I have had many... 'discussions' with forum members. I am, without doubt, bias here but if they are right and Patterson 'isn't up to it' then I ask why is he not playing in the U23's? To put him on the bench in full games as the third choice RB seems beyond stupid to me.
I have seen many posts of 'We were mugged for 10-16million'. If Everton paid 16million for a player that doesn't even get a game in their U23's... what, may I ask was the teams plan here? Loan him out next season..., as some are insisting? What, 10 Million on a player you want to loan in 6 months? Didn't you loan out JJK for 2 years?
The way that I see it is that there is a huge chasm between u23 football and premier league football that most young players can't bridge. Should also be noted that Everton don't have a great record of helping young players bridge that gap either, generally because of unrest at the club, changing managers too often and a lot of poor recruitment.I joined this forum because I, as a Scotland fan think Nathan Patterson is a prodigious talent. This is unfortunately where Patterson is at the moment. He was in this position at Rangers so really no surprise that he's in the same position here too. Everton also seem to think that at some point the players don't benefit from u23 football otherwise we'd be seeing Branthwaite playing for them every week.
The good news though is that we've spent £10m+ on him during a time for the club where money is a really precious commodity. It's pretty unlikely in my opinion that we could recoup our full fee on him in the summer. It's also well known that Coleman is on his way out and Kenny may well be too (who knows). All this adds up to Everton essentially being forced into blooding him this summer (or late this season if we're somehow safe) ready for next season.
So essentially, just wait and he'll get his chance.
Weirdly I actually think he's more highly rated by the club than Mykolenko even though he's had less appearances.
I believe that he would have had far more playing minutes if we were not in the precarious position we find ourselves.I joined this forum because I, as a Scotland fan think Nathan Patterson is a prodigious talent.
