Those Samuel-Smith brothers, if they are, look nothing alike.

Well , that’s a good start in terms of the club getting the “ meet the scholars” out early .We seem to have a complete team there , nice mix of playing position , potentially a good set of three attackers , obviously ISS a stand out and intriguing to see if Jack Patterson lives up to expectations.WATCH: Meet Everton's 2022/23 Academy Scholars

Disappointing obviously that Lawrence didn't sign with us and interesting that Samuel's-Smith considers himself as a left back though that could obviously change.

Good contract for him that.Interesting contract, they obviously regard him highly
…I could see Samuels- Smith being involved with the first team by the end of the season. Delighted he’s staying & not in the least surprised he sees himself as a LB.

Indeed, I though there were rules about contract duration pre turning 17 that would have prevented that sort of thing.Interesting contract, they obviously regard him highly

I suspect that’s the deal if it is 4 years, 1 year Scholarship until June 2023 then sign 3 year pro . He’s 17 in October so in theory he could sign 3 year pro then but as they end in June it becomes 4 months scholarship, 32 months pro . We do what it takes and hopefully become an club that is attractive to other youngsters.Probably why they have to do the years scholarship before the 3 years pro
You’d imagine that’s a carrot that’s been dangled to Samuels-Smith . Given he played 22 games last season at u18 , including Youth Cup, I’d expect him to start left back at u21 very quickly , maybe a wee adjustment to full time training, stepping up but not a long one . He was playing CB at u18 towards the end of the season and he’s looked very comfortable as left CB for England u16 but you’re right his quickest path to the first team is as a left back…… and before his 17th birthday.…I could see Samuels- Smith being involved with the first team by the end of the season.
