Everton Youth Teams Thread

People are giving a good write-up to 'Josh' Warrington (as Snodin insisted on calling him). He mostly does well on the ball and is a calm presence but I would be a bit worried about the few times opposing players burst past him and he was forced into tugging them back. His recovery speed is a bit similar to Davies.

The missing man last night, in the first 20 mins anyway, was the very much underrated Luke Butterfield. He’s not the same level as Warrington, Price and Whitaker, but the amount of non - flashy grunt work he gets through is very much unrecognised. He allows Warrington and Price to get forward with the ball when he plays, enhancing their game, while covering the defensive duties.

In his defence I'd say he was hampered by the knock he took for most of the game - I watched him running back off the ball and he was clearly limping slightly. But it's a fair point you make, certainly if thinking of him as a potential Premier League player, which is why he needs to go back out on loan into the rough and tumble of league football.

Haven’t seen much of Tom Cannon but he looked good last night. Held the ball up and worked hard. His two finishes were great.
Hope he keeps improving and gets a chance.

First time I’ve watch the 21’s for a while last night and for me Price was the one I’d keep an eye on. A few times I thought players were going to go round him and his positioning was great and he had a deceptive turn of pace. Also really good awareness of what’s going on around him and first touch.
John looked great bombing on and think he would benefit from a loan and playing more competitive open age football.
