Everton u18s 2 Sunderland 3 - Next u18s game league game in 3 weeks

Everton Under-21s striker Tom Cannon has signed a new three-year deal with the Club until June 2025.

The 19-year-old joined Everton’s Academy aged 10 and has made impressive progress throughout his time with the Blues.

A strong, mobile striker, Cannon combines sharp, intelligent movement with excellent finishing ability.

The Republic of Ireland youth international has taken significant strides over the past 12 months, in particular – he finished as Everton Under-21s’ top scorer last season with eight Premier League 2 goals.

The Aintree-born attacker has kicked off this campaign in blistering fashion, too, and has scored four goals across Everton Under-21s' opening three league games.

“It means a lot to sign this new deal,” Cannon told evertontv. “I want to really kick on now and I’m excited about what the future holds.

“Everton is a very good place to develop. I’ve got the right people around me and they help me every day.

“The coaching has been great here and I’m very grateful for all the time they’ve given me.

“I feel, over the past year, I feel I’ve developed more physically and I’m looking forward to progressing even more.

“Hopefully I can keep scoring and playing well and get more involved with the First Team. There’s nothing more I want to do than to play for Everton.”

Cannon has netted regularly at every age-group level during his nine years with Everton and explained how his goalscoring instinct was apparent from a young age.

“Ever since I was a kid playing with my brothers or kicking the ball around in the park, I’ve always had an eye for goal,” he explained.

“I was always lashing in balls in the garden – the grass was getting wrecked!

“It’s always been in me. No matter the situation, I’ll always back myself in front of goal. I just love scoring.”

Cannon says he is now relishing the chance link up with Under-21s boss Paul Tait again, having flourished under Tait’s management when he led Everton’s Under-18 side. The striker enjoyed an exceptional campaign for that team in 2019/20, netting 16 goals in just 15 league matches.

“Taity’s a very good coach and I get on very well with him,” he added.

“I feel like I can speak to him about anything.

“I’ve already had multiple chats with him so far this season and they’ve all been positive. He’s very open and honest, which I feel you need. It’s great to be back working with him."

Everton Director of Football Kevin Thelwell praised Cannon’s application and ability – and is confident he can take his game to new heights.

“I am so pleased Tom has committed his future to Everton,” Thelwell said.

“He is a very talented young striker. He has an excellent work ethic and has proven his ability to score goals at every level he has played at.

“We have a specific development plan in place for Tom and I am looking forward to seeing him continue to progress.”

Get him on the bench for Tuesday!

Would not surprise me, but if he was i hope it's not just this thing were they are there just to make numbers up, just give him a little chance and not just the final minute etc
His confidence is up we are playing lower league opposition and we have one fit striker with the word striker being used very loosely, we should be giving Cannon 20 minutes at least and starting Mills and Price in my opinion.

Just wondering, obviously he got a pay rise, but on what kind of wages are we talking about, he is 19, how much was he getting and how much will he get now?
