Everton Youth Teams Thread

…updates much appreciated.

Just think the U21s playing today and Tuesday on the same day as the first team, maybe restricts the opportunities for youngsters to travel with the firsts or even get on the bench. I suppose back in the day, the first team and reserves both kicked off at 3pm every Saturday.
It’s not working out too badly though with Warrington/ Mills on the bench today . With Cannon/ Warrington missing from the last u21 game it’s allowed Okoronkwo and Kouyate to make their first start of the season , and also Ebere on the bench for the first time .

…absolutely, gives others a chance. Bit surprised Samuels-Smith not involved as yet, but it’s a long season.

It’s interesting that we continue with a back four , with Campbell currently not starting as well, particularly as both John and Hunt are quite decent as wing - backs . As you suggest plenty of time for ISS yet, he too can play in a back three .

*Djankpata
Djankpata appears to be the one emerging from the pack of u18 midfielders into the u21s, and Ebere too seems to have pushed ahead of other first years like Sherif who was ahead of him last season. Early days, and you’re never clear about injuries to others but good to see these two and Okoronkwo getting into the u21 squad.

Ebere was a very highly rated player mate, so nice to see him doing well.

Aye, it’s been strange, at the back end of the season before last him and Lawrence featured as u15s for our u18s, then
last season Ebere didn’t start at all for the u18s ,he barely featured and was with the u16s while Sherif,Lawrence and Okoronkwo got the games. This season Ebere seems to be preferred to Sherif. It’s probably sensible “ game management “ for both Ebere and Sherif as they’re both highly rated.

Yes.

I always saw a scale between Ebere, Sheriff and Lawrence.

At one end I felt Lawrence was probably highest ceiling. At the other Sheriff is probably the most advanced currently, due to his size and strength. A bit like Welsh and Onyango he is freakishly big.

Ebere was in the middle, big and strong but a bit more natural than Sheriff. In a national tournament we won, we beat Liverpool in a final 5-0 and he got 4 of them. So hes very well thought of.

Theres a lad in the 16s too who is good, George Morgan (I think).

Yeah , Morgan was mentioned last season on here. I know he’s played for Wales Schoolboys and u16, sometimes the Wales FA show youth games on their YouTube channel so could be something to look out for.
